Garden Tools Verses The Word Of God  ( KJV-NKJV- NIV  controversy

The information below came from the links located at http://www.ekkcom.com/pervbib.htm
_________________________________________

Q A recent survey in U.S. News and World Report claimed that only thirty- four percent of church members today believe that the bible is the word of God. The vast majority believe that the bible contains the word of God. Would you care to comment on that"

A The King James Bible is the word of God. New versions contain some of the word of God. As new versions replace the KJV in sales and use, it is no wonder people sense this void. Unsaved scholars have pointed out for years that the omissions in new versions are not wholesale. The doctrine is removed only fifty to eighty percent of the time. As long as the doctrine can be found somewhere in the bible, apostates claim that version is acceptable. This contention fails when tested by scripture. The bible says that "a little leaven leaventh the whole lump" (1 Cor. 5:6). So, when there is an error one place, the poison destroys the entire version. The bible also says: "In the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established" (Matt. 18:16).

God made four gospels. A doctrine needs to be there several times to prove its authenticity. You cannot proof text when you have only one bible verse. If you were leaning on a table and someone removed one of the legs, it would be unstable. If your employer omitted fifteen days pay from your salary, protest would ensue, yet the NIV's fifteen omitted verses do not raise an eyebrow. (Matt. 17:21; 18:11; 23:14; Mark 7:16; 9:44, 46; 11:26; 15:28; Luke 17:36; 23:17; John 5:4; Acts 8:37; 24:7; 28:29; Romans 16:24, just like the NWT!) If you went outside and found that someone had stolen one of the tires from your car, you would strongly object. Why are some Christians reluctant to object when words and verses are removed from their bibles. Luke 12:34 says tellingly, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

I think that only those who see the bible as a textbook, and not as Job 23:12 says, "more than my necessary food," would approve of a bible like the NIV or NASB where there are sixty-four thousand missing words. Most of the people of the world today do not even have a whole bible, and so if new versions remove the doctrine in only one portion, that may be the only portion that these poor people have.

A well-known Christian often tells his story of bringing a suitcase of bibles into communist China. When he and his suitcase found their way to an underground house church, he was dismayed as he watched them tear the covers from his bibles and then tear the pages from the bindings. He was then told, to his surprise, that due to the scarcity of bibles, members could receive only one of the books of the bible, or several chapters of the bible. Within the confines of that one book, the member should find the essentials of the Christian faith to sustain him daily. God knows that we need a complete and balanced diet every day. We need three meals and three chapters of the bible every single day. Within those three chapters, we need to find all of the essentials of the faith: the deity of Christ, salvation by faith, and the comfort of the scriptures. The enemy knows that God's soldiers cannot oppose him strongly if they have spiritual food that has been depleted of many of its nutrients. Anyone who would contend that these new versions contain the truths of the faith, somewhere in them, does not really understand that the bible is more than our necessary food. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God" (Luke 4:4). Is that in your NIV" We need every word!

Why should a person "use and compare other versions" when trying to "gain a better understanding of the Word of God"" Why should not the person rather go to the Hebrew or Greek texts that underlie the King James Bible to gain his "better understanding"" This could be done either directly, if the individual has a working knowledge of the Hebrew and Greek and can use lexicons, grammars, and concordances in these languages, or indirectly by use of the Strong's numbers and the Englishman's Greek and Hebrew Concordances. It is most unsafe and even dangerous to resort to the New King James Version or to the New American Standard Version or to the New International Version if you wish to "gain a better understanding of the Word of God."

These new versions are most untrustworthy sources! The reason for this is twofold: (1) These modern versions either use (NASV, NIV, and others) or make reference to (NKJV) false Hebrew and Greek texts. (2) These modern versions, to a lesser or greater extent, make use of the false technique of translation known as "dynamic equivalence" or "paraphrase." By this process they think they are justified in either ADDING to God's Words, SUBTRACTING from God's Words, or CHANGING God's Words in some other way. From my own careful, time-consuming, exhaustive research on this theme for the three versions mentioned, NKJV, NASV, and NIV, I found instances of "dynamic equivalence" as follows: Over 2,000 examples in the NKJV [Cf. B.F.T. #1442, 95pp.]; over 4,000 examples in the NASV [Cf.B.F.T. #1749-P, 284pp.]!! Because of these versions' citation or use of the heretical Egyptian Greek texts, and their mishandling of God's Words, they are as undependable as the "bruised reed" mentioned in the Bible:

2 Kings 18:21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, [even] upon Egypt, on which if a man learn, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

We must not put CONFIDENCE in such UNFAITHFUL versions as Proverbs cautions us: Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble [is like] a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. (KJV)

Q Has the Amplified Bible been endorsed or authorized by the Lockman Foundation"

A Yes it has. The Lockman Foundation and Dewey Lockman sponsored and copyrighted the Amplified Gospel of John back in 1954 and the Amplified New Testament in 1958. Zondervan then took it over. I believe, and in 1962 came out with Job through Malachi. In 1964 they came out with Genesis through Ester. In 1965 the entire Amplified Bible was published. Zondervan has recently been taken over by Harper San Francisco, a secular publishing house that was in turn bought out by Rupert Murdoch, media's "prince of darkness." Zondervan has been in secular hands for some time. One of the members of the Amplified Version committee, Dr. Franklin Logsdon, has renounced the Amplified Version, as well as the New American Standard. He said:

"As a member of the editorial committee in the production of the Amplified New Testament, we honestly and conscientiously felt it was a mark of intelligence to follow Westcott and Hort. Now, what you have in these books strikes terror to my heart. It proves, alarmingly, that being conscientiously wrong is a most dangerous state of being. God help us to be more cautious, lest we fall into the snares of the arch deceiver."

The books that he referred to are Which Bible" and True or False", by Dr. D. O. Fuller. These showed Dr. Logsdon, for the first time, the corrupt nature of the Westcott and Hort Greek text underlying new versions-- that would include the NIV, the Amplified, and the NASB. The particular problem with the Amplified Bible is that it is guilty of adding to God's word. It is called an "expanded translation." It is in direct violation of Revelation 22:18 which says: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:" Proverbs 30:6 adds: "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." We are forbidden to add anything to the word of God, and the Amplified Bible translation has in fact done that.

Q The identity factor is very important because the New Agers say that "the Christ is coming," or "the Christ is here." Certainly they are not talking about Jesus Christ. Our next question comes from a pastor who is a faithful listener to the Southwest Radio Church. While he does not object to your defense of the King James Version, he is concerned that you may damage or harm the faith of those who have accepted the newer versions as the inspired word of God. This pastor asks: Can the New King James Version be trusted" What is wrong with it" Why do you call it a counterfeit"

A I think many of the men on the New King James committee were godly men who had the best intentions in mind. As a matter of fact, I have received positive responses to my book from two different men on the New King James committee. One of them is now buying my books by the case and passing them out at churches where he goes; the other one has given me an endorsement for the book. Many of these men are sweet, godly men who had little control over how it turned out and are justifiably disappointed.

We have to remember that in the bible, deception always takes the form of a counterfeit or imitation of the real thing. Galatians 1:6-7 says there is "another gospel: Which is not another; but... would pervert the gospel of Christ." So they change it just a little bit. Remember in Isaiah 14:14 Lucifer said, "I will be like the most High." He did not say he would be like Charles Manson; he said he would "be like the most High." He wants to be as much like God as he can.

Second Timothy 3:8 says, "as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these...." These magicians copied Moses exactly. Satan is a counterfeiter; he tries to copy Jesus Christ and the Father as closely as he can. Jesus is the Light of the world; how does Satan appear" He appears as an angel of light. When Jacob tried to disguise himself as his brother, his words betrayed him. I am afraid the words of the New King James betray it as a counterfeit. It has about one hundred changes per page. This amounts to about sixty thousand changes in the New King James Version. Compare that to the four hundred changes in orthography (spelling and punctuation) which took place in the 1700"s to the original King James Version.

I am so reminded of the verse in Jeremiah 6:16 which says, "ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." The churches today are without rest, and I think they need to take the "old paths." Let me give you some examples of some of the verses that have been changed in the New King James. The deity of Christ has disappeared in a number of places in the New King James. The devil said to Jesus Christ, "IF you are the Son of God..." (Matt. 4:3,6). He was questioning whether he was "the Son." The mockers said to Jesus on the cross, "IF you are the Son of God, come down" (Matt. 27:40). They were questioning whether or not he is the Son of God. His Sonship is an essential doctrine. In fact, 1 John 2:22"23 says, "He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father."

The KJV verses in Acts 3:13, 26 that say Jesus Christ is the "Son" of God, is changed in the New King James to say he is a mere "servant." Something very similar to this happens again in Acts 4:27, 30. The King James says that Jesus Christ was God's "chiId"; the NKJV changes that to "servant." Now, the problem with this rendering is that the New King James and the new translations, in John 4:51, take the same Greek word and translate it as "nobleman's son," so they know that the word can be translated as "Son." Yet they take the Sonship away from the Lord Jesus Christ. We see his deity being watered down in the NKJV again in Matthew 20:20 where instead of saying "worship," it just says "kneel." Matthew 26:64 talks about "the right hand of power"; the New King James capitalizes "Power," and says that Jesus is "at the right hand of the Power," implying that the "power""is something other than Jesus Christ. But as we read the context of that verse and go down to Matthew 28:18, we see that Jesus said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." So the power is Jesus Christ.

Another change made in the New King James is in Revelation 1:6. The King James says, "God and his Father"; the New King James says, "His God and Father." Genesis 22:8 is one of the saddest renderings in the New King James. It is a prophetic comment. Abraham said, "God will provide himself a lamb." The New King James says, "God will provide for Himself the lamb." We know this was prophetic because a ram was provided for Abraham, not a lamb; God himself is going to be a lamb.

There are a lot of New Age renderings in the New King James. They consistently substitute the term "the Christ" for "Christ." Liberty University's dean, Norman Geisler, says, "We should be particularly wary when someone refers to Jesus Christ as "the Christ." The worst component of the New King James is its use of the term, "the One,"capital O-n-e, for the masculine pronoun "he." This word gives credence to the monism, pantheism, and the neuter god that is so prevalent in the New Age movement. The February edition of Pat Robertson's Christian American magazine quotes one of the new version editors. She boasts of her "monism" and refers to "god herself" as the neuter One, capital 0-n-e. She believes that God is a female god and a neuter kind of a god. So when we see the 0-n-e in the New King James, instead of "he," the masculine, we are moving away from the historic God of Christianity to this monistic neuter god. We also see this monism in the New King James in John 4:24. The King James says, "God is a Spirit." The New King James says, "God is Spirit." Now we know that there are plenty of spirits that are not God; the NKJV makes similar changes in Revelations 15:3.

The most frightening thing that I found in the NKJV was its rendition of Luke 7:19,20. The King James says, "he that should come." The New King James has dropped "he," capitalized "Coming," and capitalized "One," and says, "the Coming One." They do not know what this is and I suspect they were deceived when the devil got them to put this in there. The New Age and Luciferian matriarch, Alice Bailey, has a chapter in her book entitled "The Doctrine of the Coming One." Who is her "Coming One"" Let me read what she says:
"Humanity in all lands today awaits the Coming One.... Let death fulfill the purpose of the Coming One." (The Reappearance of the Christ, pp. 64, 188)

[1] Now Christians know who this "Coming One" is. Second Thessalonians 2:9 says it is the Antichrist, "him, whose coming is after the working of Satan." By using the title, "Coming One," that is so pervasive in New Age literature, the New King James is giving us that "common vocabulary" once again that we really do not want to see in our Judeo-Christian bible.

Another example of the retrograde nature of the New King James is its Jehovah"s Witness readings. They have taken the historic title of the Holy Spirit, the "Comforter" (John 14:16) and changed it to "the HeIper." The Jehovah's Witness bible has always called the Holy Spirit "the helper" there and elsewhere because they do not believe the Holy Spirit is a person. They believe the Holy Spirit is a wind or a force, or something like that, something that just sort of helps God. So now the New King James has the identical rendering the Jehovah's Witness bible (The New World Translation) has had for years and years and years.

The New King James omits the word "hell" numerous times, ten times I believe, and substituted it with the word "Hades," which has numerous New Age interpretations. They have also taken away the word "hell" in the Old Testament and replaced it with the word "Sheol" about thirteen times. So again, we have a translation that needs to be translated, using words that have no exact meaning and can be given any sort of definition or meaning that anyone would like.

The New King James Version is carving a platform to support the idol worship that will fill the globe during the tribulation, when they "worship the image of the beast" (Rev. 13:15). Paul's harsh rebuke to the idol worshippers in Acts 17:22 ("ye are too superstitious"), becomes a hearty compliment in the NKJV ("you are very religious"). The Greek word that is translated "superstition" contains the root word for "devil"! The Greek word for "religious" is nowhere in the verse. The sharp distinction between the saved and the unsaved fades from the page of the NKJV as "the heathen" (Ps. 79:1), a word with religious connotations, is transmuted into the politically correct "nations." Sorcerers no longer "bewitch," but merely "astonish" (Acts 8:9). Ask yourself, "Which terms fit in with the one-world religion"s theme " Toleration for Religious Diversity " "too superstitious heathens who have been bewitched" (KJV), or "very religious nations who are astonished""

We have time to mention only one more pro-New Age rendering in the New King James Version. The Bible talks about "the end of the world." The NKJV changes that to "the end of the age" in Matthew 24:3 and in most of the New Testament. This is what New Agers have taught all along. They believe in a series of ages " one age follows another age " you merely change the page on your calendar. They do not believe that the world will end in a cataclysmic explosion (2 Pet. 3:10 " 12). New Agers believe time is cyclical and think we are approaching the end of the age and the dawning of a "new" age.

Expanded Greek lexicons like the ten-volume Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (vol. 10, pp. 203 " 204) reveal that the KJV"s use of the term "world" for the Greek aion, when the context refers to "space," and "age" when it refers to "time," is correct within the historic Judeo-Christian tradition. The exclusive use of the word aion as "age" is Platonic in origin and implication. New versions admit that the word "world" is a valid rendering of aion, using it in Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 4:10, and other places where the verse cannot be twisted to adapt to this Platonic notion.

The New King James publishers boast that it "continues the great tradition" of the KJV. Its New Age readings are not its only divergence from the traditional text. The 1881 New Testament text of Scrivner and that of the New King James do not represent the text followed by the King James translators in 1611. Estimated variance is between fifty-six and two hundred and eighty-seven differences. Harvard alumni, Dr. Jack Lewis, author of The English Bible from KJV to NIV, also notes the NKJV's divergence from the KJV's Old Testament tradition, citing the NKJV's use of "current Old Testament text criticism" and "the 1966/1977 edition of the Stuttgart [German] Bible" (p. 332). The historic ben Chayyim Rabbinic Bible, used by the KJV, was altered in 1937 by liberal German theologian Rudolf Kittel, using Leningrad Ms B 19a (ben Asher text). His family's conviction for their involvement in the death of millions of Jews during Hitler's holocaust makes his alterations to the Old Testament highly suspect. The NKJV"s use of recent discoveries like the Septuagint, Vulgate, and Dead Sea cave manuscripts (see NKJV preface) contradicts the bible's doctrine of preservation (Ps. 12:6-7) "to a thousand generations" (Ps. 105:8). Did God skip the generations from the fourth century to the nineteenth century" The secular notion of continual progress and evolutionary development cannot be applied to the scriptures.

Many people have asked about the subtle 666 logo on the cover of the New King James. The publisher, Thomas Nelson, says that this is an ancient graphic device that represents the Godhead. Since the bible is our final authority for all matters of faith and practice, we must look at Acts 17:29 to see if we are allowed to have graphic devices representing the Godhead. "... we ought not to think that the Godhead is like [anything]... graven by art and man's device" (emphasis mine).

There are no verses in the bible that allow or encourage pictorial representations, whether naturalistic, stylized, or abstract. Images are very pagan. The bible begins with a warning against imagery in the second commandment (Exod. 20:4) and ends with people worshipping the image of the beast (Rev. 19:20). The warning was not heeded.

God communicates through words. Man has always tended to move away from this. This is why we have moved from a word-based culture to an image-based culture. Children do not read the bible anymore; they watch bible videos or look at bible picture books and get their image of Jesus Christ, not from words. but from pictures or images which pretend to portray Jesus Christ.

Thomas Nelson is correct in noting that the NKJV logo is an "ancient" design. Pattern Design by Archibald Christie says of the trifoil, "They are of Oriental origin." The shape refers to the pagan trinity of the Father, the Mother, and the Son, popular in ancient Egypt and Greece (or Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma, the trinity of the Hindus). Therefore, this is not a Christian device, even though the Church of Rome adopted it for use in cathedrals. Thomas A. Nelson, a Roman Catholic himself, signed letters, "sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady" " wrong trinity.

This same 666 symbol design, sans barbed outer edges, appears on the cover of the most popular New Age book, The Aquarian Conspiracy. Esoterics believe the number 666 is a powerful occult number and should be used, whether subtly woven into logos or displayed openly. I do not think either the pagan trinity or the number 666 belong on the cover of a bible.

Q The work of Wescott and Hort, at first and almost without exception, was accepted by the majority of so-called biblical authorities. Later, as they learned more and more about the work of Wescott and Hort, they changed their minds; I think that is also true of some of the modern versions; they were accepted too quickly without study. What do you think of the Geneva Bible"

A The Geneva Bible was one in a line, preceded by the Great Bible and followed by the Bishops Bible, marking the ascent to the King James Version. After the King James was finalized, revision was of a retrograde nature; English revision work started going downhill. It was going uphill with the Geneva, and then it started going downhill after the KJV.

The Geneva, like those English bibles preceding it and immediately following it (except the Jesuit Douey Rheims Bible), follows the traditional text underlying the King James Version. Historically, the church has always used the traditional Greek text that underlies the King James Version, not the Jesuit text now underlying the NIV and NASB. The Geneva Bible was written in about 1560, and was used by those people who were exiles from the persecution of Bloody Mary, queen of England.

The Geneva New Testament was written by a gentleman named William Whittingham. It had a number of good points. Each verse was separate. This would encourage memorization and was new for English bibles. It had many anti-Catholic footnotes.

Some of the areas in which it needed improvement include Psalms 12:7 where it followed the Septuagint and its denial of the preservation of scripture. In several places, the Geneva Bible uses the term "master" instead of "Lord." In Hebrews 4:11, it had the term "disobedience"; it really should be "unbelief." The KJV corrected all of these errors.

There are also some funny words in the Geneva Bible. It was called the Breeches Bible because in Genesis 3, it said that Adam and Eve wore breeches. The "abusers of themselves" (1 Cor. 6:9) were called "buggerers." The King James was an improvement of the Geneva Bible, but the Geneva was definitely within the line of the traditional text bible.

Q Isn't holding to one specific version as the true word of God akin to idol worship or making it an icon"

A Webster defines an idol as a false god. Having more than one version is idolatry. Let me explain why. With one version, God is the authority. When there are conflicting authorities, as there were when the serpent challenged God's words in the garden, man becomes the arbiter, choosing which "authority" to follow. Hence man usurps the authority of God.

"God is not the author of confusion" (1 Cor. 14:33). If there is only one road, there is no confusion. When a second road forks to the left, confusion is created. It is apparent that someone is trying to seduce the traveler off of the straight and narrow path.

First Corinthians 1:10 describes the key to unity in the body of Christ. "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you." The divisions are caused when we do not "all speak the same thing." Anyone who has ever been to a bible study where numerous versions are present has experienced this. Divisions and conflict will arise at that study over what the bible says. The attendees will "be as gods" (Gen. 3:5), deciding for themselves which rendering is "good" and which is "evil." Instead of the word correcting, dissecting, and judging us, we judge it. The multiplying of languages at the tower of Babel divided mankind; the multiplied voices of the different versions divide the church.

Romans 8:28 can be applied, however. First Corinthians 11:18"19 says divisions serve, "that they which are approved may be made manifest among you." Since the word of God is "a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb. 4: 12), the bible version issue has a way of separating the good men from the bad boys.

Satan knows, just as he knew in the garden, that by not saying "the same thing" as God, he could create division and discord. Today the sons of God, just like Adam, yield to the same temptation. It happens under the same umbrella " the tree of knowledge. The bait, just as it was in the garden, is "good," "pleasant," and "to be desired to make one wise" (Gen. 3:6). The initial temptation is never to be "bad," although that is the result; the temptation is always to usurp the final authority of God. It occurs in the church today in the form of subtly dismantling the authority of the word of God and re-directing that authority to man or a man-made source. The Greek lexicon is the icon of choice today "to make one wise" and to change God's authoritative voice. The tree of knowledge has been recycled, its pulp pressed to create these paper popes. Lucifer boasted that he would "exalt" a "throne above" God's (Isa. 14:13). Both he and mankind vie to perch there via the corrupted bible versions.

The word of God is our only way of hearing God's voice and is his means of communicating with man. To the Laodician church he had to say, "If any man hear my voice." His word, the KJV, has been moved outside of many churches, replaced by a pulpit hewn out of the tree of "knowledge." Jesus Christ is seeking the people in this church; he has not abandoned them. He is standing outside, at the door (Rev. 3:20). Christians will have to "go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach" (Heb. 13:13).

Reproach, "ah, and there's the rub," said Shakespeare. The hidden idol man has set up "in his heart" (Ezek. 14:7) is freedom from persecution. Staying within the camp, starving church members try to fill the void and "experience" Christ through goose bumps, pew jumps, psychological pumps, signs and wonders, and music that thunders. They are, as Jude 19 described, "sensual, having not the Spirit." Jesus said, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit" (John 6:63). With his word out of many churches, all that remains are the sensual "desires of the flesh and of the mind" (Eph. 2:3). "Denying the power thereof," that is, rejecting the true word of God which is "powerful" (Heb. 4:12) leaves only a "form of godliness." This brings us back to Webster, who further defines an idol as a form or appearance but without substance. The real idols today are those "forms of godliness" which Christians devise when the word, with its "Spirit," "power," and "life," are gone. "Thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead" (Rev. 3:1). True spiritual life comes not from programs and high attendance, but from "the word of God, which liveth" (1 Pet. 1:23). Jesus said, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). Only a living thing can reproduce itself. That is why new versions die when their copyright holder dies. The KJV is alive and keeps going from generation to generation. The bible is "spirit," just as God is a spirit. It has a living nature because it is the voice of God, "the voice of my beloved" (Song of Sol. 2:8).

That is why there is such a close association between the words of God and the Word, Jesus Christ. Revelation 19:13 says, "And his name is called The Word of God." John 1:1 further states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." As important as these names of God are, Psalm 138:2 says, "Thou hast magnified thy word above alI thy name."

The parallels between Jesus Christ, the Word, and the word of God are manifold. John 17:17 says, "Thy word is truth"; Jesus said, "I am the... truth" (John 14:6). Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path"; Jesus said, "I am the light ofthe world" (John 9:5). Psalm 119:50 says, "This is my comfort... thy word": Isaiah 51:12 says, "I, even I, am he that comforteth you." They pulled out his beard; they pull words out of the bible to alter how we view Jesus Christ. Isaiah 52:14 says, "His visage was so marred more than any man." They have marred the face of the written word so that we cannot detect the counterfeit when he comes. They mocked Jesus Christ; they will mock the KJV and those who hold it dear.

Actually, it is scandalous for rich Americans to have ten versions of the bible, instead of just one. Four million dollars was invested in the New King James Version; subsequent to that, several million dollars was spent on advertising campaigns. Many tribes and peoples around the world have no King James type bible at all; the Albanian bible was destroyed during the communist regime. Many of the tribes in New Guinea do not have a bible in their language. But, these countries have no money to pay the publishers. The publishers are not interested in giving these people bibles; they are just interested in making bibles that can produce a profit for their operation.

Did not Jesus say, "He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none" (Luke 3:11). I believe the disciples fed the five thousand equally; we need to be content with just one version. I understand that before the communists took over in Norway, they had a national turkey shoot. After everyone shot their turkey, they were given the turkey to take home, but were told, "We"re going to keep your weapons." Likewise before the devil can defeat a person, he must steal their sword. Our only effective weapon against the devil is the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.

There are four ways the devil steals the sword from people. From the brutal reign of Diocletian until the 1400s, bibles were burned along with their owners. It is against the law now (we are all quite cultured, you know). The new versions are the second method of taking the word from Christians via their sixty-four thousand missing words. The third method is to destroy people"s confidence in the bible, saying from the pulpit, "It should read this," or "A better reading would be this." By correcting the word of God, they are taking away people"s confidence in the word of God. If a wife corrected her husband in front of the children, they would soon lose respect for their father. Likewise, when the bride of Christ corrects the voice of the Father, in front of the babes in Christ, a generation grows up that no longer "tremble at his word" (Isa. 66:5). The fourth and final way the devi1 steals our sword, for those who do not fall prey to the first three, is to keep us from our daily bible reading.

Revelation 22:19, one of the last verses in the bible, says, "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life." We can see how serious God is about this when we look at the genealogy in Matthew 1, it says, "Josias begat Jechonias" (vs. 11). Jehoiakim actually begat Jechonias. Josias was his grandfather. Why does it say that" God took Jehoiakim"s name out of the book of life, acting as if he had never existed. Why" Jeremiah 36 tells us Jehoiakim took a penknife to the word of God. It says he was not afraid, and when they warned him, he would not hear them. So God took his name out of the book of life.

coun ter feit \'kaunt-er-fit\: to imitate or copy closely
especially with intent to deceive
.

The greatest method of deception is to counterfeit.
And the master of counterfeit and deception is Satan.

The Bible in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 warns of Satan's counterfeit: "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;. . ." Isaiah 14: 14 tells of Satan's ultimate counterfeit: ". . . I will BE LIKE the most High."

And among his greatest counterfeit's is the New King James Bible (NKJV). Christians that would never touch a New International Version (NIV), New American Standard (NASV), Revised Standard (RSV), the New Revised Standard (NRSV) or other per-versions are being "seduced" by the subtil NKJV.

And though the New King James does indeed bear a "likeness" to the 1611 King James Bible, as you'll soon see, there's something else coiled (see Genesis 3:1) "underneath the cover" of the NKJV.

WHAT ABOUT THAT MYSTERIOUS MARK"

Symbols are used throughout the occult. Harpers' Encyclopedia of Mystical & Paranormal Experience (p.594) says, "Symbols are important to all esoteric teachings, for they contain secret wisdom accessible only to the initiated."

Many people have asked about the mysterious symbol on the NKJV.

Thomas Nelson Publishers (publishers of the NKJV) claim, on the inside-cover, the symbol, ". . .is an ancient symbol for the Trinity." But Acts 17:29, clearly FORBIDS such symbology: ". . . we ought NOT to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, GRAVEN BY ART and man's device."

And why does The Aquarian Conspiracy, a key New Age "handbook", bear a similar symbol" New Agers freely admit it represents three inter-woven "6"s or "666".

Constance Cumbey, author of The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow and a notable authority on the New Age Movement, said, "On the cover of the Aquarian Conspiracy is a Mobius, it is really used by them as triple six (666). The emblem on the cover of the New King James Bible is said to be an ancient symbol of the Trinity. The old symbol had gnostic origins. It was more gnostic than Christian. I was rather alarmed when I noticed the emblem..." (The New Age Movement, Southwest Radio Church, 1982 p.11)

The three esoteric "6"'s separated.
Plainly displaying the interlocked "666".

The Triqueta is used as the centerpiece for the logo for The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP). The ITP is a new age school following the Jungian Psychology [occultist Carl Jung]. One of their stated goals is ". . . to reach the recognition of divinity within"(www.itp.edu/about/tp.html) (see Genesis 3:5, "...ye shall be as gods...")

The same symbol (with a circle) is displayed by the rock group Led Zeppelin. Members of Led Zeppelin are deeply involved in satanism and the occult. Guitarist Jimmy Page, so consumed with satanism, actually purchased satanist Aleister Crowley's mansion. Most believe the symbol is from the teachings of Aleister Crowley and represents 666.

The following picture is "The Hierophant" taken from the Tarot card set designed by satanist Aliester Crowley. The "Hierophant" is a priest in the occult and Eleusinian. Notice the "three circles" at the top of the wand or rod in the Hierphant's hand. Inside the the three intertwined circles is the "NKJV symbol".

To the right is the top of the wand enlarged. Notice the "NKJV symbol" (upside down) inside the three circles.

One of the most occultic television shows ever aired is "Charmed". "Charmed" details the spells and occultic practices of three witches. The "NKJV symbol" is the show's primary symbol of witchcraft and is splattered throughout the series. Notice the "NKJV symbol" displayed on "The Book of Shadows". The Book of Shadows is commonly used in withcraft and satanism:

Book of Shadows: Also called a grimoire, this journal kept either by individual witches or satanists or by a coven or group, records the activities of the group and the incantations used. (Jerry Johnston, The Edge of Evil: The Rise of Satanism on North America, p. 269)

THE NKJV & WITCHCRAFT"

The Craft: A Witch's Book of Shadows
The Witch's Book of Shadows or Grimoire is a book of spells, enchantments, and rituals. Includes Rituals, Spells, and Wicca Ethics

The Craft Companion: A Witch's Journal

By Dorothy Morrison, a high priest of Witchcraft.

NOTE: We circled (in YELLOW and RED), and also enlarged to the side The NKJV symbol.

Here's some examples of Satanic and Pagan Jewelry which includes the NKJV logo.

LEFT BOX: Notice the satanic pentagram ring in the top right corner. The ring with the NKJV logo is the fourth down on the left, we highlighted it with a yellow circle.
BOTTOM BOX: Notice the very satanic Baphomet Goat. We broke out and colored the NKJV symbol found in the other two satanic pieces of jewelry.

LEFT: The image on the left is from the rock group Deicide's album "Once Upon the Cross". It is a triquetra (the NKJV logo) with pentagrams and upside down crosses. The group Deicide members are very serious Satanists. Lead Singer Glen Benton has an upside down cross branded on his forehead. The inside cover of the album "Once Upon the Cross" has the Lord Jesus Christ, sliced up the middle, with his insides removed. The name Deicide means the death of God.

RIGHT: The triquetra (the NKJV logo) is also the logo for the Rap / Metal band P.O.D.

The book "Blood on the Doorposts" by former Satanists, Bill and Sharon Schnoebelen, also documents the "trio of sixes (666)" in the "NKJV symbol" and goes so far as claim it is "symbolic of the anti-christ":

"A disguised interlocked trio of sixes, symbolic of the anti-christ. Also symbolizes the triple goddess of Wicca (three interlocked vesica pisces together). Commonly used in Catholic liturgical iconography, and has recently found its way into the logo of the New King James Bible." (Bill and Sharon Schnoebelen, Blood on the Doorposts, p. 150)

Dr. Cathy Burns writes in her book, Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, concerning the "NKJV symbol":

"Marilyn Ferguson, a New Ager, used the symbol of the triquetra (another name for the triskele) on her book The Aquarian Conspiracy. This is a variation for the number 666. Other books and material have a similar design printed on them, such as books from David Spangler, the person who lauds Lucifer, and The Witch's Grimoire. As most people know, the number 666 is the number of the beast (see Revelation 13:18) and is evil, yet the occultists and New Agers love this number and consider it to be sacred.

As stated earlier, many organizations, such as the World Future Society and the Trilateral Commission, incorporate this symbol into their logo. I think it is quite interesting to see that this same symbol appears on the cover of the New King James Bible as well!"(Dr. Cathy Burns, Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, pp. 242-243)

The Preface to the New King James Version (NKJV) reads, "A special feature of the New King James Version is ITS CONFORMITY to the thought flow of the 1611 Bible. . . the new edition, while much clearer ARE SO CLOSE to the traditional. . ."

Among the first changes that greets the reader of the NKJV is the removal of the much maligned "thee, thou and ye". The Preface to the NKJV states, ". . .thee, thou, and ye are replaced by the simple you,. . .These pronouns are no longer part of our language." But "thee, thou and ye" were "NO LONGER part of the language" during 1611 either. (just read the intro to the 1611 King James, there are no "thee", "thou" and "ye"). In fact, Webster's Third New International Dictionary, says of ye: "used from the earliest of times to the late 13th century. . ." (p.2648) And yet the 1611 King James was published 400 years later in the 17th century!

So why are they there"

The Greek and Hebrew language contain a different word for the second person singular and the second person plural pronouns. Today we use the one-word "you" for both the singular and plural. But because the translators of the 1611 King James Bible desired an accurate, word-for-word translation of the Hebrew and Greek text - they could NOT use the one-word "you" throughout! If it begins with "t" (thou, thy, thine) it's SINGULAR, but if it begins with "y" (ye) it's PLURAL. Ads for the NKJV call it "the Accurate One", and yet the 1611 King James, by using "thee", "thou", "ye", is far more accurate!

By the way, if the "thee's" and "thou's" are ". . .no longer part of our language" - why aren't the NKJV translators rushing to make our hymnbooks "much clearer"" "How Great Thou Art" to "How Great You Are", or "Come Thou Fount" to "Come You Fount" Doesn't sound right, does it" Isn't it amazing that they wouldn't dare "correct" our hymns - and yet, without the slightest hesitation, they'll "correct" the word of God!

The NKJV claims to make the "old" KJV "much clearer" by "updating obsolete words" (New King James Version, 1982e. p. 1235)

How about that "obsolete word" - "hell". The NKJV removes the word "hell" 23 times! And how do they make it "much clearer"" By replacing "hell" with "Hades" and "Sheol"! Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines Hades: "the underground abode of the dead in Greek MYTHOLOGY". By making it "much clearer" - they turn your Bible into MYTHOLOGY! Not only that, Hades is not always a place of torment or terror! The Assyrian Hades is an abode of blessedness with silver skies called "Happy Fields". In the satanic New Age Movement, Hades is an intermediate state of purification!

Who in their right mind would think "Hades" or "Sheol" is "up-to-date" and "much clearer" than "hell""

Matthew 16:18

KJV: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
NKJV: "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

Luke 16:23

KJV: "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."
NKJV: "And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

Hell is removed in 2 Sam. 22:6, Job 11:8, 26:6, Psalm 16:10, 18:5, 86:13, 116:3, Isaiah 5:14, 14:15, 28:15,18, 57:9, Jonah 2:2, Matt. 11:23, 16:18, Luke 10:15, 16:23, Acts 2:27, 31, Rev. 1:18, 6:8, 20:13,14.

Then the NKJV decides that maybe "Hades" should be "grave"! So the NKJV makes 1 Corinthians 15:55 "much clearer" by changing "grave" to "Hades"! ". . . O Hades, where is your victory"" Clear as mud. . .

Another one of those "obsolete words" is "repent". They take it out 44 times! And how does the NKJV make it "much clearer"" In Matthew 21:32 they use "relent". Matthew 27:3 it's "remorseful" Or Romans 11:29 they change "repentance" to "irrevocable".

The term "new testament" is NOT in the NKJV! (see Matt. 26:28, Mark 14:24, Luke 22:20, 1 Cor. 11:25, 2 Cor. 3:6, Heb. 9:15,) The NKJV replaces "new testament" with "new covenant" (ditto NIV, NRSV, RSV, NASV). An obvious assault at the written word!

The word "damned", "damnation" is NOT in the NKJV! They make it "much clearer" by replacing it with "condemn" (ditto NIV, RSV, NRSV, NASV). "Condemned" is NO WHERE NEAR AS SERIOUS as "damned"! Damned is eternal! One can be "condemned" and not "damned". Romans 14:22 says, ". . . Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth." Webster defines "condemned": to declare to be wrong, but the much more serious and eternal "damn": "to condemn to hell".

The word "devils" (the singular, person called the "devil" is) is NOT in the NKJV! Replaced with the "transliterated" Greek word "demon" (ditto NIV, RSV, NRSV, NASV). The Theosophical Dictionary describes demon as: ". . . it has a meaning identical with that of 'god', 'angel' or 'genius'". Even Vines Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words (p.157) defines "demon" as: "an inferior deity, WHETHER GOOD OR BAD". Webster defines "demon" as: "divinity, spirit, an attendant power or spirit", but "devil" as: "the personal supreme spirit of EVIL. . ."

In 2 Timothy 2:15, the NKJV (like the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV) remove that "obsolete" word - "study"! The only time you're told to "study" your Bible. AND THEY ZAP IT! Why don't they want you to "study" your Bible" Maybe they don't want you to look too close - you might find out what they've ACTUALLY done to your Bible! The "real" KJV is the only English Bible in the world that instructs you to "study" your Bible!

That "obsolete" word "virtue" is replaced with "power" in Mark 5:30, Luke 6:19, 8:46! How does anybody confuse "virtue" with "power"" Simple - by being "bosom-buddies" with the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV! That's what they did!

One of the most absurd changes ever made is changing the word "servant" to "slave"! The NKJV in Romans 6:22, reads: "But now having been set FREE from sin, and having become SLAVES OF GOD. . ." The NKJV, in 1 Corinthians 7:22, calls the Christian, "Christ's slave". Talk about a contradiction! John 8:36 says, "If the Son therefore shall make you FREE, YE SHALL BE FREE INDEED." But isn't a Christian supposed to serve" Yes, in love. Not as a slave! Galatians 5:13 explains it, perfectly: "For, brethren, ye have been called unto LIBERTY;(not slavery!) only use not LIBERTY for an occasion to the flesh, but BY LOVE SERVE one another."

In order to "harmonize" with the satanic New Age Movement (and of course the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!), the NKJV changes "end of the WORLD" to "end of the AGE"! And in it's no longer the "WORLD to come" but "AGE to come". The New Age Movement teaches a series of ages (hence the name: New AGE). See Matthew 12:32, 13:39, 13:40, 13:49, 24:3, 28:20, Mark 10:30, Luke 13:30, 20:34,35, 1 Cor 1:21.

The New Age Movement and the occult are longing for one called the Maitreya. The Bible calls him the Anti-Christ. New Ager's refer to him as the "the Coming One" - AND SO DOES THE NKJV! In Luke 7:19, 20 (see also Matt 11:3) John told his disciples to ask Jesus: "Are You THE COMING ONE. . ." In the "The Great Invocation", a "prayer" highly reverenced among New Agers and chanted to "invoke" the Maitreya, says, "Let Light and Love and Power and Death, Fulfil the purpose of the Coming One."

And to REALLY show their sympathy with the satanic New Age Movement - BELIEVE IT OR NOT - in Acts 17:29 the New Age NKJV changes "Godhead" to "Divine Nature"! ( ditto NIV, NASV)

And if you think the NKJV just "innocently" updated the "obsolete words", removed the "thee's and thou's" - here's what the translators proudly admit: "IT IS CLEAR that this revision REQUIRED more than the dropping of "-eth" endings, removing, "thee's" and "thou's," and updating obsolete words." (The New King James Version, 1982e. p. 1235)

AND THEY AIN'T JUST A KIDDIN'!

Here's a sampling of the required changes:

Genesis 2:18: The NKJV ought to make Hillary Clinton proud: "And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a helper COMPARABLE TO HIM"

Genesis 22:8: One of the greatest verses in the Bible proclaiming that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh: "God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:" The NKJV adds that little word "for": "God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering" And destroys the wonderful promise! Where'd they get their little "for"" From the NASV!

Genesis 24:47: The "old" KJV reads: "I put the earring upon her face". But the NKJV has different plans for beautiful Rebekah: "I put the nose ring on her nose". Where did it get the ridiculous idea to "cannibalize" Rebekah" Just take a peek at the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!

Ezra 8:36: The KJV reads, "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants. . ." The "much clearer" NKJV reads, "And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps. . ." Who in the world thinks "satraps" is "much clearer" than lieutenants" The NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV - they do! They put in the same "much clearer" word!

Psalms 109:6: removes "Satan". (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV).

Matthew 7:14: change "narrow is the way" to "difficult is the way". There's nothing "difficult" about the salvation of Jesus Christ! Jesus says in Matt. 11:30, "For my yoke is EASY, and my burden is light." THE EXACT OPPOSITE! Boy, you talk about a contradiction!

Matthew 12:40: change "whale" to "fish" (ditto NIV) I don't guess it matters (what's the truth got to do with it"), the Greek word used in Matthew 12:40 is ketos. The scientific study of whales just happens to be - CETOLOGY - from the Greek ketos for whale and logos for study! The scientific name for whales just happens to be - CETACEANS - from the Greek ketos for whale!

Matthew 18:26 & Matthew 20:20: The NKJV removes "worshipped him" (robbing worship from Jesus) (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Mark 13:6 & Luke 21:8: removes "Christ" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

John 1:3: change "All things were made BY him;" to "All things were made THROUGH Him" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

John 4:24: change "God is a spirit" to the impersonal, New Age pantheistic,"God is spirit" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

John 14:2: (NKJV 1979 edition) change "mansions" to "dwelling places" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

John 14:16: change "comforter" to "helper"(refers to Holy Spirit) (NASV)

Acts 4:27, 30: change "holy child" to "holy servant" (refers to Jesus) (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Acts 12:4: change "Easter" to "Passover" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Acts 17:22: changes "superstitious" to "religious" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Acts 24:14: change "heresy" to "sect" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 1:18: change "hold the truth" to "suppress the truth" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 1:25: change "changed the truth" to "exchanged the truth" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 5:8: change "commendeth" to "demonstrates" (NIV, NASV)

Romans 16:18: change "good words and fair speeches" to "smooth words and flattering speech" (NIV, NASV, NRSV)

1 Cor. 1:21: change "foolishness of preaching" to "foolishness of the message preached" (ditto NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV) There's nothing foolish about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Unless you're not saved! 1 Cor. 1:18 says: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish FOOLISHNESS. . ." I wonder where that leaves the translators of the NKJV, NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV"

1 Cor. 1:22: change "require" to "request" (NASV)

1 Cor. 6:9: removes "effeminate" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

1 Cor. 9:27: change "castaway" to "disqualified" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 2:10: change "person of Christ" to "presence of Christ" (NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 2:17: With all the "corruptions" in the NKJV, you'd expect 2 Cor. 2:17 to change. IT DOES! They change, "For we not as many which CORRUPT the word of God" to "For we are not, as so many, PEDDLING the word of God" (ditto NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 5:17: change "new creature" to "new creation" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 10:5: change "imaginations" to "arguments". Considering New Age "imaging" and "visualization" is now entering the church, this verse in the "old" KJV just won't do. (NIV, RSV)

2 Cor. 11:6: change "rude in speech" to "untrained in speech" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Gal. 2:20: omit "nevertheless I live" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Phil. 2:6: (NKJV 1979e.) change "thought it not robbery to be equal with God" to "did not consider equality with God something to be grasped". (robs Jesus Christ of deity) (NIV, NASV, RSV)

Phil. 3:8: change "dung" to "rubbish" (NIV, NASV, NRSV)

1 Thess. 5:22 change "all appearance of evil" to "every form of evil" (NASV, RSV, NSRV)

1 Timothy 6:5: The NKJV changes "gain is godliness" to "godliness is a MEANS OF gain". There are NO Greek texts with "means of" in them! Where, oh where, did they come from" Care to take a wild guess" YOU GOT IT! The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!

1 Timothy 6:10: The NKJV changes "For the love of money is the root of all evil:" to "For the love of money is a root of all KINDS OF evil". The words "KINDS OF" are found in NO Greek text in the world! Where did they get them" Straight from the NIV, NASV, NRSV!

1 Tim. 6:20: change "science" to "knowledge" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Titus 3:10: change "heretic" to "divisive man" (NIV)

Hebrews 4:8 & Acts 7:45: "Jesus" is changed to "Joshua". (NIV, NASV, RSV)

2 Pet. 2:1: change "damnable heresies" to "destructive heresies" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

1 John 3:16: remove "love of God"; (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

1 John 5:13: The NKJV reads: "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may CONTINUE TO believe in the name of the Son of God." They add "CONTINUE TO" without any Greek text whatsoever! Not even the perverted NIV, NASV, NRSV and RSV go that far! A cruel, subtil (see Genesis 3:1) attack on the believer's eternal security!

Rev. 2:13: change "Satan's seat" to "Satan's throne" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Rev. 6:14: "Heaven" is changed to "sky" in (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

AND THAT DOESN'T SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF ALL THE CHANGES!

The NKJV removes the word "Lord" 66 times!

The NKJV removes the word God 51 times!

The NKJV removes the word "heaven" 50 times!

In just the New Testament alone the NKJV removes 2.289 words from the KJV!

The NKJV makes over 100,000 word changes!

And most will match the NIV, NASV, RSV, or RSV!

And Thomas Nelson Publishers have the audacity to claim in an ad for the NKJV (Moody Monthly, June 1982, back cover), "NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED except to make the original meaning clearer."

The New King James is a COUNTERFEIT!

It's NOT NEW! The changes are already in the NIV, NASV, NRSV, or RSV!

And it's certainly NOT true to the 1611 King James Bible!

Friend, I want to ask you the most important question anyone will ever ask you:

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SAVED"

It's simple to be saved ...

Know you're a sinner.

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

"... for there is no difference. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

That Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins.

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, ..." 1 Peter 2:24

"... Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, "Revelation 1:5

And the best way you know how, simply trust Him, and Him alone as your personal Savior.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE SAVED"

Pray this prayer, and mean it with all your heart.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and unless you save me I am lost forever. I thank you for dying for me at Calvary. I come to you now, Lord the best way I know how, and ask you to save me. I now receive you as my Savior. In Jesus Christ Name, Amen.

Mark of the Devil Discovered" New King James Version

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)

In a startling video expose of the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible, renowned researcher and Bible scholar Gail Riplinger discusses the triquetra logo found on each issue of the NKJV. She demonstrates that the NKJV logo is strikingly reminiscent of the symbol employed by pagans and occultists for their unholy, Luciferian trinity of deities. The same unified - yet three-part logo, or symbol - is also connected with the theology of top New Age leaders, and with the dark initiation rites of high-level Freemasonry.

The publisher of the NKJV, Thomas Nelson Publishing, may claim that their bible's logo represents the Holy Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. But, if so, why is the same design found dominant in New Age and occult circles" Why does a revoltingly blasphemous Masonic ritual also employ the same symbol"

A Symbol of Freemasonry

We reproduce in Flashpoint an illustration from the classic Masonic text, Duncan's Ritual of Freemasonry, which shows how the cryptic "Three Times Three" handclasp is performed in the Royal Arch Degree by three "brothers" of the Lodge. Incredibly, it is during this grotesque ritual that the Masonic initiate learns the true name of the Masonic god, nebulously referred to by Masons as the "Grand Architect of the Universe."

In this secret ritual, however, the Masonic Lodge reveals that the actual name of their deity is Jahbuhlun. This repugnant name is obtained by combining the name of Jehovah, or Yahweh, with the names of the Philistine god, Baal, and the Egyptian god, On. (On is one of the several names of the great Egyptian sun god.) Thus, Jah-baal-on, or Jahbuhlun.

A Symbol of Occultism

Riplinger has brought to my attention that this same tri-part symbol is found concealed in the tail of the Green Dragon, illustrated in Harry E. Wedeck's occult classic volume, Treasury of Witchcraft.

The same symbol and logo can also be found on an album from Atlantic Records of heavy metal music by Led Zeppelin, the satanic rock group. Moreover, it is similar to the logo of the immense Krupp Works, the German manufacturing giant that was one of the most important producers for Adolf Hitler's Nazi war machine.

A Symbol of the Aquarian Conspirators

New Age leader Marilyn Ferguson, who wrote the million copy bestselling book, The Aquarian Conspiracy, included the triquetra symbol at the beginning of each chapter of her 447-page encyclopedia promoting New Age perversion. Indeed, the very cover of her book has this symbol prominently displayed against a stark, black background.

In her book, The Aquarian Conspiracy, Ferguson displays an arrogant, in-your-face attitude. She confidently discloses that yes, there is a global, New Age conspiracy. She gushingly reports that the goal of its leadership is to dramatically transform humanity and usher in a New Millennium of Oneness. Ferguson writes:

A leaderless but powerful network is working to bring about radical change in the United States - This network is the Aquarian Conspiracy - There are legions of conspirators. They are in corporations, universities, and hospitals, on the faculties of public schools, in state and federal agencies - and the White House staff. Whatever their station or sophistication, the conspirators are linked (pp. 23-24)

A Symbol of the Black Madonna

In countless New Age magazines and books, one will find on prominent display the triquetra seal - the same logo that is used by Thomas Nelson Publishers as the dominant design to announce each copy of its false bible version.

In Gnosis magazine (Winter 1997, p. 10) I recently discovered an ad promoting a tour of "sacred sites in Southern France." Parti-cipants, the ad explained, will be taken to key places to honor and contemplate the Black Madonna, said to be "a direct link to the pagan Earth goddesses and the archetype of the sensual, uninhibited woman"

A symbol of High Tech Control

But perhaps the ultimate use of this strange, ancient symbol of foreboding evil is found on - of all places - a high tech smart card. Gail Riplinger sent me a prototype of a new smart card just unveiled by MasterCard, Visa, Citibank, and Chase Manhattan. I was utterly shocked to find the triquetra symbol emblazoned repeatedly on the card. As Gail told me in her letter, "The latest smart card has the NKJV's logo all over the face of the plastic so that when a picture goes under it, you have 666 on your forehead."

In other words, the image on the prototype smart card is that of a man, the bearer or holder of the card, who has this dreadful symbol splattered all over his face and head.

A Symbol of the Beast"

Gail Riplinger suggests that the design of the triquetra symbol on the smart card is alarmingly likened to that of three 6's linked together: 666! Could it be that this strange symbol is the prophesied Mark of the Beast, that terrifying seal someday to be given each person on Earth, in their forehead or right hand, as a sign of the Beast's unreserved ownership of the individual's body and soul":

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. (Revelation 14:11)

The prophetic Word solemnly warns us not to receive the "mark of his name." And what is his name" We instantly recall that higher-level Masons worship a false god under the adulterous name, Jahbuhlun. And, as we have seen, the mark of Jahbuhlun is that of the triquetra, the same three-part symbol used by the publisher of the NKJV bible.

Therefore, I ask once again: Could it be that this symbol - the secretive sign of the Aquarian Conspirators; the symbol of the worshippers of the Black Madonna; the symbol plastered on the image of the face of holders of a coming, new universal smart card - is the very mark signifying the name of the beast"

A Sign From God

Frankly, I do not believe that in choosing this symbol for its bible version the publisher of the NKJV bible had any idea of the true meaning of its esoteric significance. But because this bible version, like so many others, is permeated with errors and omissions, I believe it possible that God saw to it that there would be a signal for true Christians - one glaringly printed on this false bible - warning us to reject the NKJV. God is faithful. He always gives His people the light of truth so that darkness can be avoided and rejected.

I believe, then, we are witnessing the hand of God, cautioning us to have nothing to do with the corrupt, new bible versions. As we have repeatedly stated, the authorized King James Version (KJV) remains the one, true, untarnished Bible. It is accurate and without mixture of error. No wonder, then, that so many deceivers today seek to cast doubt on the powerful, eternal Word of God contained in the King James Bible.

My friends, the real war in these last days is not in the field of economics. Our major enemy is not political. The greatest battle is not over the conspirators' scheme for the New World Order. What we are engaged in now is the epic contest of the ages. This is a struggle for the spiritual heart of mankind. I thank God that he has provided us with all the ammunition and answers we need to fight in this Holy War and prevail. The mighty weapons we require are found in ample supply in His Book, the majestic and incomparable King James Bible.

Section 1: About the King James Code.

What the King James Code is NOT.

The King James Code does not have anything to do with equidistant letter sequences. Much debate centers around ELS because of its controversial, and sometimes rather subjective nature. Some feel that, even though, there may well be letter sequences in the Hebrew scriptures, there meanings and interpretations are most often obscure.

The King James Code is not a private, secret language that only the elect are going to be able to interpret. It does not necessarily require sophisticated computers and software in order to discover the codes, however, a computer search is much easier and less time consuming than a typical concordance search.

What is the King James Code"

If I had to describe the King James Code in a nutshell, I would do it this way. The King James Bible contains a system of numbers that are consistently linked with words or phrases in the scriptures. It is understood that the Bible can be comprehended on many levels. The more you study the Scriptures and become accustomed to them, the more you understand the Divine symbols of certain passages that you never saw before. These must always come as a product of Divine Revelation. Certain words and phrases take on a whole new meaning, never contradictory to any other passage in the Scriptures. As you study, you begin to see also that numbers seem to have a certain relevance in the Bible. Each number will have its own symbolic meaning. Things associated with completion or perfection will be linked with the number 7. Things associated with the sinfulness of man will be associated with the number 6, and so on.

What I have discovered, or rather, what the Lord has revealed, is that word and phrase occurrences in the King James Bible follow this same pattern. If a word or a phrase is added or omitted, this ruins the pattern. Could it be that this is why God commanded us not to add or take away from His Word" (Deut. 4:2, Rev. 22:18,19)

An example of how this works is found in the phrase "Holy Spirit". This phrase is found exactly 7 times in the King James Bible. This not only reveals the Divine nature of the Holy Spirit, but also reveals to us that the Bible is a very unique Book. It contains the very signature of God himself, for, it would be impossible for man to plan a book, and a system of numbers, in this fashion.

Please read these pages carefully and with an open mind. It may benefit you to acquire some knowledge of the use of numbers in the Bible, but a mastery of the subject is not necessary. For those who are not familiar at all with the usage of Bible numerics, I include a reference guide in this document.

Numbers are one of the few things in this world that can truly reflect the nature of God in several ways. First, numbers are infinite. We will never count the last number, because it does not exist. Not only are they infinite in positive form, but in negative form as well. This perfectly describes a God who is eternal; a God who always was and always shall be.

Numbers are constant. They never change. In this world, languages have changed, people have changed, the world itself is in a constant state of change, but numbers remain the same. 2+2 always equals 4 and always will. There is no way it will change.

Numbers are one of the few things, according to Revelation 21, that will accompany us from this world to the next. They are as eternal and infinite as our Mighty God is.

This is why His Word is a word of numbers. Please read the following carefully. All of this research can be easily replicated using a Bible search program. I recommend using QuickVerse for Windows. It is the program that I used in gathering this information. A copy will cost about $10-$15 dollars. QuickVerse will allow you to search for a word or phrase, and then list exactly how many times that word or phrase is found, and show you how many verses it is found in. Not all Bible search programs will do this. Also, QuickVerse comes with a master list of all the words in the AV, along with the number of times they are found in the text.

As I said earlier, this information came on me rather quick. Although I have made several attempts at proofreading and double-checking the various patterns for accuracy, there may be an occasion where I have made an error. Let me assure you, that any errors in this book are merely the result of human frailty and not sinister manipulation, just to prove a point.

I welcome any response you may have after reviewing this information. My address is given below. Thank you and may the Lord bless you.

Section 2: A Brief History Lesson

Allow me to begin with a little story-telling.

A long time ago, the story goes, a tiny group of people were being held in bondage. The tyranny of the day was great, and their burdens were heavy. They cried unto God from their chains, and God heard them. He sent them a leader, a man that He had specially prepared, to take them out of this land of bondage, and take them to a new land. A land flowing with milk and honey.

This leader secured their freedom, and led them across the sea to their new home. However, before God allowed these, His people, to come into this promised land, He had to make a few special arrangements for them. First, He wanted to establish them in His truth and not someone else"s, so He gave them a copy of His written Laws, to establish His truth in all that they did. Then, He made sure all the prior inhabitants of the land who knew not God, would never be a threat to His people. Once this was done, God brought His people into this new and wondrous place. God blessed them in this new land, just like He promised, and once they were settled, finally established them as His Peculiar People. He used these people in this special land, to spread His Good News to the whole world, just like He promised their forefathers. He established His covenant with them, and said that as long they served Him, He would favor them and bless them.

The story of the Exodus from Egypt and the establishment of God"s people in the Promised Land is one of the greatest stories that can be told. But, the story I just told you is not the story of the Israelites, it is the real story of the establishment of America.

The similarities, indeed, are great. God has used Israel as a mirror in the Church Age to establish a people that would accept His covenant, and establish themselves as God"s people, for the purpose of spreading the Gospel to the entire world. Our forefathers, the Pilgrims, knew this, and let this calling be their constant incentive to establish a Christian nation, and allow God to reform His Church from the bondage of the government controlled churches of Europe. And just as sure as God delivered His Word in the form of the Ten Commandments to the Israelites as they established themselves in the Promised Land, God also delivered His Holy Word to those Puritans and their followers in the form of the King James, or Authorized Version of the Bible. Do not think, because of this statement, that I am a racist. America is, and was intended, to be a nation of people that were "gathered out of many nations". All who have come to her shores have before them the greatest opportunity ever. The opportunity to become part of the Great Kingdom of God. There is no other nation on this planet where the gospel is so freely accessible.

It was the King James Bible that accompanied the Puritan leader John Winthrop and 700 settlers who came to the New World in 1630. It was the King James Bible that was used to establish the first churches in America. It was the King James Bible that was used to establish the first civil governments in the Colonies. It was the King James Bible that led those brave Patriots in rebellion against the tyranny of King George. It was the King James Bible that was the basis of our Great Law, the Constitution of the United States. It was the King James Bible that our first President, George Washington, laid his hand upon, to swear an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution. It was open to Deuteronomy 28. (read it to find out why) It was the King James Bible that used to be taught in our public schools. It was the King James Bible that literally millions of Americans learned how to read and write with. It was the King James Bible that was the centerpiece of the common American home for hundreds of years. It is still the King James Bible that succeeding presidents lay their hand upon to swear the same oath. It is the King James Bible that many of our citizens have sworn upon to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It is the King James Bible that is distributed by the millions every year, free of charge, to military personnel, chaplains, prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and motels, and schools all across this land. And now, for some reason, the King James Bible is not good enough anymore.

This most sacred of all books was intended to be God"s true shining light for all English speaking peoples all over the world. There is no greater representation on earth of the beauty of the English language. But now, we are trading this Wondrous Work in for lesser versions where the language, and might I say, the doctrines, are more modern than eloquent.

Please read the following quotations about our Bible. I will list them without comment, so that you may see and understand what our Founding Fathers knew about the Sacred Text. When these great men spoke of the Bible, it was predominately the King James Bible that they spoke of.

All of the following quotations are reprinted by permission from America"s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations, written by my good friend, William J. Federer. I encourage each and every one to secure a copy of this book.

In his second work, The Truth of the Christian Religion, Hugo Grotius wrote:

"There is no reason for Christians to doubt the credibility of these Books (of the Bible), because there are testimonies in our books out of almost every one of them, the same as they are found in the Hebrew. Nor did Christ, when He reproved many things in the teachings of the Law, and in the Pharisees of His time, ever accuse them of falsifying the Books of Moses and the Prophets, or of using supposititious or altered books. And it can never be proved, or made credible, that after Christ's time the Scripture should be corrupted in anything of moment, if we consider how far and wide the Jewish nation, who everywhere kept these Books, was dispersed over the whole world."

Sir Matthew Hale (November 1, 1609-December 25, 1676), was Lord Chief-Justice of the King's Bench, a position of high influence in England. He testified:

"There is no book like the Bible for excellent wisdom and use."

In his work entitled Some Considerations Touching the Style of the Holy Scriptures, Robert Boyle wrote:

"The Books of Scripture illustrate and expound each other; as in the mariner's compass, the needle's extremity, though it seems to point purposely to the north, doth yet at the same time discover both east and west, as distant as they are from it and each other, so do some texts of Scripture guide us to the intelligence of others, for which they are widely distant in the Bible."

Sir Isaac Newton wrote:

"We account the Scriptures of God to be the most sublime philosophy. I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever....Worshipping God and the Lamb in the temple: God, for his benefaction in creating all things, and the Lamb, for his benefaction in redeeming us with his blood."

"But through the system of revealed truth which this Book contains is, like that of the universe, concealed from common observation, yet the labors of the centuries have established its Divine origin, and developed in all its order and beauty the great plan of human restoration."

In describing Sir Isaac Newton, the Encyclopedia of Philosophy stated:

"Newton himself was a student of Old Testament prophecies and believed in the Scriptures as inerrant guides."

Immanuel Kant in Halley"s Bible Handbook wrote:

"The existence of the Bible, as a book for the people, is the greatest benefit which the human race has ever experienced. Every attempt to belittle it is a crime against humanity."

George Washington stated:

"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

"The blessed Religion revealed in the Word of God will remain an eternal and awful monument to prove that the best Institutions may be abused by human depravity; and that they may even, in some instances, be made subservient to the vilest of purposes."

Robert Aitken (1734-July 15, 1802), was the publisher of The Pennsylvania Magazine. On January 21, 1781, he petitioned Congress for permission to print Bibles, since there was a shortage in America due to the Revolutionary War interrupting trade with England. The Continental Congress, September 10, 1782, in response to this shortage of Bibles, approved and recommended to the people that The Holy Bible be printed by Robert Aitken of Philadelphia. This first American Bible was to be "a neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools".

In 1756, John Adams wrote in a diary entry:

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every membershould regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God...What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."

In a report to President Thomas Jefferson, Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours wrote:

"The Bible is read; it is considered a duty to read it to the children; and in that form of religion the sermons and liturgies in the language of the people tend to increase and formulate ideas of responsibility....In America, a great number of people read the Bible, and all the people read a newspaper. The fathers read aloud to their children while breakfast is being prepared - a task which occupies the mothers for three-quarters of an hour every morning....It is because of this kind of education that the Americans of the United States...have the advantage of having a larger proportion of moderately well-informed men."

Noah Webster, known as the "Schoolmaster to America," used only the Bible and the New Guide to the English Tongue, 1740, in his earliest school. Thomas Dilworth said he wanted to rescue: "Poor creatures from the Slavery of Sin and Satan by setting the word of God for a Lantern to our feet and a Light to our Paths."

It was Thomas Jefferson who said:

"The Bible is the cornerstone of liberty. A student's perusal of the sacred volume will make him a better citizen, a better father, a better husband."

Benjamin Rush stated:

"The great enemy of the salvation of man, in my opinion, never invented a more effectual means of extirpating Christianity from the world than by persuading mankind that it was improper to read the Bible at schools."

"In contemplating the political institutions of the United States, I lament that we waste so much time and money in punishing crimes and take so little pains to prevent them. We profess to be republicans, and yet we neglect the only means of establishing and perpetuating our republican forms of government, that is, the universal education of our youth in the principles of Christianity by the means of the Bible. For this Divine book, above all others, favors that equality among mankind, that respect for just laws, and those sober and frugal virtues, which constitute the soul of republicanism."

In an essay entitled, "A Defense of the Use of the Bible as a School Book," included in his 1798 work, Essays, Literary, Moral and Philosophical, Dr. Benjamin Rush wrote:

"[T]he Bible, when not read in schools, is seldom read in any subsequent period of life....[It] should be read in our schools in preference to all other books from its containing the greatest portion of that kind of knowledge which is calculated to produce private and public temporal happiness."

Fisher Ames (April 9, 1758-July 4, 1808), was an American founder and politician. He was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts, 1789-97, who help formulate the Bill of Rights in the First Session of the U.S. Congress. He graduated from Harvard, 1774, and became of member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1788, where he participated in the state's ratification of the U.S. Constitution. He was chosen a member of the Governor's Council, 1798, and served until 1800, the year he was honored by the Massachusetts Legislature to deliver the message upon the occasion of George Washington's death. In 1804, he was offered the presidency of Harvard University, but declined due to ill health.

On August 20, 1789, Fisher Ames' suggested wording of the First Amendment was adopted by the House:

"Congress shall make no law establishing religion, or to prevent the free exercise thereof, or to infringe the rights of conscience."

Fisher Ames stated:

"Should not the Bible regain the place it once held as a schoolbook" Its morals are pure, its examples are captivating and noble....The reverence for the sacred book that is thus early impressed lasts long; and, probably, if not impressed in infancy, never takes firm hold of the mind....In no Book is there so good English, so pure and so elegant, and by teaching all the same they will speak alike, and the Bible will justly remain the standard of language as well as of faith."

On September 20, 1789, in an article published in the Palladium magazine, Fisher Ames stated:

"We have a dangerous trend beginning to take place in our education. We're starting to put more and more textbooks into our schools....We've become accustomed of late of putting little books into the hands of children containing fables and moral lessons....We are spending less time in the classroom on the Bible, which should be the principal text in our schools....The Bible states these great moral lessons better than any other manmade book."

The Holy Bible (during the period 1760-1805), was the source for 34% of all quotations cited by our Founding Fathers. After reviewing an estimated 15,000 items, including newspaper articles, pamphlets, books, monographs, etc., Professors Donald S. Lutz and Charles S. Hyneman, in their work "The Relative Influence of European Writers on Late Eighteenth-Century American Political Thought" published in the American Political Science Review, revealed that the Bible, especially the book of Deuteronomy, contributed 34% of all quotations used by our Founding Fathers.

The other main sources cited include: Baron Charles Montesquieu 8.3%, Sir William Blackstone 7.9%, John Locke 2.9%, David Hume 2.7%, Plutarch 1.5%, Beccaria 1.5%, Trenchard and Gordon 1.4%, Delolme 1.4%, Samuel von Pufendorf 1.3%, Cicero 1.2%, Hugo Grotius .9%, Shakespeare .8%, Vattel .5%, etc. These additional sources as well took 60% of their quotes directly from the Bible. Direct and indirect citations combined reveal that 94% of all quotations referenced by the Founding Fathers are derived from the Bible."

So now we understand that the Authorized version has held a revered place amongst our people for nearly 400 years. There is no good reason to abandon it, or trade it in for something of lesser value. We have found it to be a book of superior English, poetry, science, math, history, doctrine, morality, prudence, virtue; a book of the superior Love that God has for all mankind. And now we will see that God has placed His very special Signature upon this Divine Book.

Section 3: Reference Guide to Numbers in Scripture and their Symbolic Meanings

Listed below is a quick reference guide to the symbolic meanings of various numbers that are used in the Bible. This is not an exhaustive list, nor is it meant to be totally comprehensive as to their meanings. I have selected certain of these numbers to focus on in this book, and their meanings will become apparent. I recommend purchasing at least one if not several books written by different authors on the subject.

This list is compiled from two of these books, plus my own research into biblical numbers. In a few instances, I depart from previously published material on Bible numerics, as to meaning and usage of certain numbers, but for the most part, there is a general agreement concerning a majority of these numbers. I also recommend using this list and the research contained in this book, to advance your own study. The Word of God will be your authority and the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.

Here are a few principals to keep in mind when it comes to understanding certain numbers in the Bible. Often, numbers above 12 will carry several different meanings, usually dependant on the context of the verse or chapter they are located in, or by what numbers they are compounded by or by what they are the sum of. For instance, the repeated numbers, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66".etc., are used either as repeated numbers, giving them a compounded meaning of the main number, or sometimes they carry with them the identification with the number 11, 2 X 11, 3 X 11, etc. Numbers that are multiples of 10, may carry their own significance, or carry the idea of the root number being compounded, (5, 50, 500, 5000, 1, 10, 100, 1000"and so on.) In several cases, as we will see later, the number of times a certain word is found in the scriptures, gives that number its meaning, or is associated in some way with a meaning already established.

As you are reading through your Bible, take note of how certain numbers are used, consult the meaning of that particular number, and ask the question, "What prinicipal or doctrine is being taught by this number as it relates to the context of the passage." For instance, in Genesis 24, why did Abraham"s servant take ten camels with him to find a bride for Isaac" In the story, he takes ten camels to search for a wife for Isaac, the only begotten son of Abraham, (type of Christ). When he finds Rebekah, she is carried back to Isaac riding on the camels! Why" Because ten represents the written Word of God, i.e the Ten Commandments, and God"s Word tells us that whenever God issues forth His Word, it never comes back empty handed, but always accomplishes that which it was sent out to do! (Isa 55:11) "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." That is just one instance of how to use the numbers of the Bible as a tool for interpretation.

It cannot, at least for now, be proven that every single number in the Bible has any great significance. Many are, however, finding out more and more of the mysteries of the Scriptures in these last days. It is the opinion of this author that to omit or otherwise change any of the numbers found in the scriptures is a mistake that should be avoided at all costs. The problem that many of the modern translations have is that they have in many cases, changed the numbers, usually by converting weights and measures into current standards, or by completely omitting a number altogether, replacing it with an invented paraphrase.

Allow me to give one example of this. In John 6, the story of the feeding of the Five thousand is given. In the Authorized Version, verses 5 through 7 are recorded as follows:

(John 6:5-7) "When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat" {6} And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. {7} Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little."

Notice the difference between this and its corresponding verses from the NIV.

(John 6:5-7) "When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat"" 6. He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7. Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"

Not only has the number been omitted, but a paraphrased interpretation has taken its place. The phrase "eight months wages" is not contained in any of the Greek texts. I am curious as to how the regular student of the Bible is supposed to find out that two hundred pennyworth is the exact amount that a person would be expected to earn in eight months time. Is this idea or equation located in the Bible anywhere" The answer is no. I do not doubt that someone has done some digging into ancient history and discovered something, somewhere that told him that a man earned two hundred pennyworth in eight month"s time. But isn"t this a case of relying on man"s knowledge and not God"s" Those who translated this passage obviously made the assumption that God really intended to tell John to write it down as eight month"s wages, but never got around to it, until the NIV was published. Please, don"t do God any favors!

As you can probably tell, I am a stickler for leaving the Bible the way it is. Although I realize that I do not have a flawless apologetic for the King James Translation, I am content with leaving it intact, not making any changes to any portions of it, and letting God supply the interpretation He wants.

----------------------------------------------------

Section 4: The Genesis Codes

Coming from a person who hated mathematics in grade school, the study of Bible numerics has been a fascinating adventure into God"s Word for me. I am amazed each day as I open up God"s word and uncover the hidden treasures that are contained in the Authorized Version.

From the earlier chapter on God"s plan for America, I realized very early in my study that God had placed a very special anointing on this special book. That anointing has been apparent for almost 400 hundred years now. I believe in my heart that it is the Very Word of God. What I will show in this section are the textual and numerical patterns that are contained in the A.V., patterns that are not replicated in the modern translations. I will show that not only is God"s signature on the text, but on the chapter and verse divisions as well. Now I realize that this statement will almost immediately be rejected by many who read this. It will therefore not be my intention to try to convince anyone of this principal. I am already convinced. I will only show you the pattern, and let you be the judge.

The first such pattern is found in the book of Genesis. As you will see, many, if not all (I have not yet completed this study), of the chapter divisions in Genesis follow their numerical equivalent in the theme of each chapter.

First of all, it is noted that the book of Genesis contains 50 chapters. This is by design. It has the stamp of inspiration placed on it by the Holy Spirit himself, for 50 is the number for the Holy Spirit. (2 Tim 3:16) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" In English, the word "inspiration" is akin to the word "respiration" which simply means "breath". The Holy Spirit is usually represented as being the "breath of God."

Now, we will list some chapters in Genesis, and see this numerical pattern displayed.

Chapter 1. One is the number for Beginnings and Unity. The theme of Genesis 1 is the beginning of the creation of God. Also, when we see the phrase, "Let us make.." we are reminded that "The LORD our God is one LORD." Deut. 6:4

Chapter 2. Two is the number for division and union. The theme of Genesis 2 is how God separated or divided man by removing a rib from him, creating the woman, and uniting them together in marriage.

Chapter 3. Three is the number for resurrection and Divine completeness. In Genesis 3, we find a microcosm of God"s plan for the ages, i.e. the fall from grace, man"s sinful nature, the Seed of the woman who is to come, die for sin, and be resurrected on the third day in order to put down the serpent. It was intended for man to live forever. Sin brought death into the world, but the prophecy of vs. 15 resurrects man to eternal life once again.

Chapter 4. Four is the number for the world and worldliness. In chapter 4, the first births are recorded, the first murder is committed (worldliness) and the worldly lineage of Cain is detailed here.

Chapter 5. Five is the number for grace and redemption. It is a number that is associated with the Rapture, (the five wise virgins whose lamps are full, etc.). It is in chapter 5 that we find Enoch being translated for his righteousness. The only other mention we have of Enoch being translated is found in Hebrews 11, verse 5. The word "rapture" is not in the Bible, however, the word "translated" is. This word is mentioned in three different forms, "translate, translated, and translation." All of these combined make up 5 occurrences of this word. The 5th time is in Hebrews 11:5.

Chapter 6. Six is the number for man and the wickedness of sin. In Genesis 6, the seed of man is corrupted by the fallen angels. Also, God looks at the entire world and sees the total depravity of mankind. It is now time for judgement. According to scripture, man has been sinning now for 6,000 years. It is now time for judgement.

Chapter 7. Seven is the number for completion and perfection. In Genesis 7, God brings His judgement on the whole world. God literally puts an end to life on earth. Only a remnant is saved. The old world is done away with. God is ready to start all over again with the new world.

Chapter 8. Eight is the number for new beginnings. Sunday is the first day of the week, Saturday is the seventh day. At midnight on Saturday, the seventh day, the week starts all over again on the eighth day, which is also the first day all over again. This is God"s plan for the ages. Since He has established this as His method, He will not and cannot change it. In Genesis 8, Noah and the animals are released from the ark in order to start the world all over again. There were eight people on the ark who repopulated the earth.

Chapter 9. Nine is the number for fruit bearing. It can be assumed that since there were 7 of each clean animal and 2 of each unclean animal on the ark, that the total number of animals on the ark was a multiple of 9. It was with these animals that God repopulated each species. In the first verse of chapter 9, God tells Noah and his sons to "Be fruitful, and multiply."

Chapter 10. Ten is the number for the Law and for Kingship. There are ten kings represented by ten horns on the beast in Revelation 13. The first king ever mentioned in the Bible is Nimrod, the first King of Babel (Babylon) found in Genesis 10. By counting, we also find that Nimrod is the 13th descendant from Adam. 13 is the number for rebellion and depravity. This number is associated with Antichrist.

Chapter 11. Eleven is the number for judgement and disorder. In Genesis chapter 11, we have the story of Babel. Need I say more"

Chapter 12. Twelve is the number for governmental perfection. It is a number given to Israel, the literal seed of Abraham, and the Gentile church, the spiritual seed of Abraham. In Genesis 12, we find the first promise given to Abraham concerning his seed, who would become a great nation.

Chapter 13. Thirteen is the number for rebellion and depravity. In Genesis 13 we find the first description of Sodom. Notice that it is in verse 13 that the Bible says this, (Gen 13:13) "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly."

Section 5: Various Numerical Codes

In the following section, you will see an assortment of the various numerical patterns that are contained only in the King James Version. It is my opinion, that this proves beyond any reasonable doubt, that God has placed His very own Signature in this book, and it is truly the Inspired Word of God. Many of these patterns have been searched for in the NIV, and "have been found wanting". For a complete list of the codes that I have discovered so far, get the book The King James Code. Your unbelieving friends will need to know that the Bible was not written by man. Your Christian friends will need to know that God has indeed preserved His Word for us in the last days. Give them a copy of the book. Use it as you would a gospel tract. It will force most people into making a decision, one way or the other, about God"s Word, and even their relationship with Him. Then, pray for the results.

The Number Three

The number 3 is the number of divine completion and resurrection. Three is the number for the Godhead. It should be mentioned that the term "trinity" is not a Bible term. The only term used to describe the persons of God is the word "Godhead." I John 5:7 declares to us that there are 3 persons in this Godhead, (unless you have an NIV). So it comes as no surprise that the word itself, "Godhead" is found only 3 times in the Scriptures.

(Acts 17:29) "Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device."

(Rom 1:20) "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"

(Col 2:9) "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

Since the number 3 is the number for resurrection, it would stand to reason that it would be associated with being born again. It is. The phrase that Jesus himself used to describe salvation, "born again" is found exactly 3 times in the AV, and each time it is in reference to the number 3 either in chapter or verse.

(John 3:3) "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

(John 3:7) "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

(1 Pet 1:23) "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

Along with this same theme of resurrection lets look at a verse in the Bible that talks about resurrection.

(Rom 1:4) "And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:"

In this passage, Paul clearly points out that the power of Christ and of salvation was not manifested on the cross, but manifested by His resurrection from the dead. We serve a living Savior, and all who are followers of Him, and have been born again also receive this resurrection from the dead. We were once dead in our sins, but now we are made alive in Christ Jesus. This phrase "resurrection from the dead", is found exactly 3 times, all of them in the New Testament. Here are the other two occurrences.

(Luke 20:35) "But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:"

(Acts 4:2) "Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead."

A few years ago, Dallas Holm sang a song that became one of the best loved songs in modern Christianity. The title of his song was "Rise Again". He took this title directly from the scriptures. It was a song about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This phrase is to be found 9 (3x3) times in the New Testament.

The Number Four

The number 4 is the number for the world, creation, and worldliness. This section will be devoted to this theme, and the pattern associated with this theme.

In the very first verse of the Bible, we find that God spells out exactly what His creation consists of.

(Gen 1:1) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

These two words, "heaven" and "earth" are found together in the same verse a total of 156 times. This breaks down to 4x39. When we search for the exact four word phrase that is used in Genesis 1:1, we find that it is found exactly 4 times in the Authorized Version.

(Gen 1:1) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

(2 Sam 18:9) "And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away."

(Jer 32:17) "Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:"

(Jer 51:48) "Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD."

It is also one of the great doctrines of the faith, that one of these days, God will create a New Heaven and a New Earth. In fact it is mentioned 4 times in the scriptures that this will occur.

(Isa 65:17) "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."

(Isa 66:22) "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain."

(2 Pet 3:13) "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."

(Rev 21:1) "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."

In the first section of this book, we noted that Genesis 4 displayed the theme of the world and worldliness. It should also be noted that the word "ground", pertaining to the earth itself, is found 4 times in Genesis 4. It is also interesting to note that the one person who symbolized the lineage of worldliness, Cain, is found 16 (4x4) times in Genesis 4.

The Number Five

The number 5 is, without a doubt, the number for grace and redemption. It is the number that is associated with the future translation of the Church. All of these themes can be discovered in the Authorized Version of the Bible.

First we find, that the 5th time Noah"s name is mentioned, it is mentioned with Grace.

(Gen 6:8) "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD."

It might also be mentioned that Noah was 500 years old, when he begat the lineage that was to repopulate the earth after the flood. The first time Noah"s name is mentioned is in Genesis chapter 5. The Bible tells us that the flood waters prevailed on the earth for exactly 150 days. This breaks down to 5 months. You may have noticed that in the King James Bible, Noah"s name is spelled differently in the Gospels, but not in Hebrews, or the two epistles of Peter. In the Gospels it is spelled "Noe." Did you ever wonder why" Maybe it has something to do with the fact that his name spelled this way exactly 5 times. The last time Noah"s name is ever mentioned is in II Peter chapter 2 verse 5. The 40 day time period that it rained on the earth is found 5 times in the book of Genesis, the last time being found in chapter 50.

Now, let"s look at a phrase in the Bible that is associated with grace.

(Acts 20:24) "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God."

Through this and other verses, we understand that true grace is God"s grace. It is his unmerited favor to all who will receive it. This phrase "grace of God" is found in two forms; "grace of God" and "grace of our God". Together, they are found in 25 (5x5) verses, exclusively in the New Testament.

Our Savior is associated with the number 5. In Isaiah, he is given 5 titles. (Isa 9:6) "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." He arrived on this earth at the beginning of the 5th millenium from Adam. As the number for Antichrist is 666, the number for Christ is 555. Why" The word "Christ" is found exactly 555 times in the Bible! The first occurrence is Matthew 1:1, the first verse of the New Testament, and in Revelation 22:21, the last verse of the New Testament, literally, he is the first and the last. His title as the "only begotten son" is found exactly 5 times in the Bible.

The number Eight

The number 8 is the number for new life and new beginnings. In Genesis 8, Noah and the animals are allowed to depart from the Ark and restore the earth. Noah and his family consisted of 8 people that repopulated the human race. Noah"s name is found exactly 48 (8x6) times in the Old Testament. His name in both forms (Noe and Noah) is found exactly 8 times in the New Testament. When you combine them together you end up with a total of 56. Here we find that the name of Noah is the product of Completion (7) and New Beginnings (8). What an amazingly perfect Book!

Twice in the New Testament, Noah is associated with the number 8.

(1 Pet 3:20) "Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water."

(2 Pet 2:5) "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;"

After the 7th millenium, in which Christ reigns on the earth for 1,000 years, everything is formed anew and this is when the New Heaven and New Earth show up. This, too, is God"s pattern, and He will not depart from it. Those who say that Christ will not literally reign for 1,000 years at the end of the 6th millenium either do not recognize this pattern, or completely ignore it altogether. This is a shame.

The number 8 is the product of 2 and 4. When you multiply the number for division with the number for the creation, you realize that there will be 2 creations, the old and the new. This is the essential idea behind being born again. The number 8 is also the sum of 5 and 3. When you add the number for redemption, with the number for resurrection, you still have new life, no matter how you look at it.

In the 8th book of the Bible, the book of Ruth, you have this pattern displayed and preserved. The whole theme of Ruth is the redemption and restoration of Naomi, (Jewish Church), based upon this verse, (Ruth 4:15) "And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him." (that"s because 8 is better than 7)

The word "alive" is found 88 times in the scriptures. Its usage, as well, indicates the new life found in Christ through his resurrection.

(Mat 27:63) "Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again."

(Luke 15:24) "For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry."

(Luke 24:23) "And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive."

(Acts 9:41) "And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive."

(Rom 6:11) "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord."

(Rev 2:8) "And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;"

The word "forth", quite a common word for the Bible, is found 888 times in the scriptures. One of its more famous uses comes in this form.

(John 11:43-44) "And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. {44} And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go."

In Hosea 6:2 (6+2=8), we find a prophecy concerning the restoration of Israel in the last days.

(Hosea 6:2) "After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."

Encoded in this passage is a time prophecy of "the third day". As Christ was given new life on the third day, so will the nation of Israel, prophetically speaking. Christ is going to revive those dry bones and give them life all over again very soon. The word "revive" is found exactly 8 times in the Bible.

The Number Nine

The number 9 is the number for fruits or fruitbearing. It has already been mentioned that the command to come out of the ark and be fruitful is found in Genesis chapter 9. There were 7 clean animals of every kind and 2 unclean animals of every kind, showing us that the number 9 is to be associated with the animals in the Ark. In Genesis 1:22 God gives the very first fruitful command ".. (Gen 1:22) "And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth." Yes, you guessed it. The phrase "be fruitful" is found exactly 9 times in the scriptures!

We are admonished in the Scriptures, as Christians, to bear fruit. When we look in the scriptures, we find this principal exactly 9 times.

(2 Ki 19:30) "And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward."

(Isa 37:31) "And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:"

(Ezek 17:8) "It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine."

(Ezek 17:23) "In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell."

(Luke 13:9) "And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down."

(Luke 8:8) "And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

(John 15:4) "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me."

(John 15:8) "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples."

(Rev 22:2) "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."

In Leviticus 25, God gives His instruction concerning the year of Jubilee. Here is what the Scriptures say.

(Lev 25:19-22) "And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. {20} And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year" behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: {21} Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. {22} And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store."

In this is displayed the numerical patterns. They were commanded to work on the 6th year, rest on the 7th year, start anew on the 8th year, and reap the fruits on the 9th year. Here again, we see that our God is a God of order, and that order does not change.

It is no surprise that in the 9th book of the New Testament, the book of Galatians, we find the 9 fruits of the Spirit.

(Gal 5:22-23) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

Would it be possible then that the fruit of the Spirit be associated somewhere else with the number 9" Lets take a look and see.

(Eph 5:9) "(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)"

Since God"s Word is a book of order, it is no surprise that we find this in verse 9. Remember, God wrote the book, not man, and He alone is responsible for its patterns.

There is another type of fruit that the Bible mentions. It is the fruit of sin. Here is what the Psalmist said happens to those whose hearts are full of sin.

(Psa 9:17) "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

Hell is literally the reward and the fruit of those who remain in their sin. God even established a pattern for hell. The word hell is found exactly 54 times in the scriptures. This is the number for the wickedness of man (6) times the number for fruit (9).

The Number Twelve

Although I am very aware of the importance the number 12 plays in the scriptures, I do not have as yet very much to report as far as the codes are concerned. Remember, all of this information that you see before you, has been the process of revelation, and not education. The Lord would tap me on the shoulder and tell me what to look for.

I do, however, have a few, very important codes to share that involve the number 12. God established the pattern of 12 in the Old Testament, when He gave Father Israel 12 sons. It was through them and their respective tribes that the whole Nation of Israel was formed. In the New Testament, God re-established this pattern by appointing 12 Apostles. It is on their foundation (Eph. 2:20, Rev. 21:14), Christ being the Chief Cornerstone, that the Gentile Church is built. As the 12 tribes were intended to be 1 nation, we are expected to be 1 body. No divisions, no schisms, just 1 body. The codes spell that out very clearly. In Acts, we are told this about the beginning of the Church age.

(Acts 1:14) "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren."

It did not surprise me one bit to find that this phrase "one accord" is found exactly 12 times in the New Testament. It is only found once in the Old Testament, and carries the same theme. I will reserve comment on this subject. Go to your King James Bible, study the use of this phrase, and let God do the talking!

The number 12 is understood clearly from the scriptures to be a number that is associated with the Church, both of the Old Testament, and of the New. Those who are in the New Testament Church are those whom God has quickened, or brought back to life and given a new beginning in His Kingdom. This gives them the association both with the number 12 and with the number 8. They are called the "saints". They are called saints exactly 96 (12x8) times in the scriptures.

The Number Seven

I have decided to save the best for last. You may have, by now, seen some things you have never seen before, but it hasn"t been enough to put you over the edge of belief just yet. What follows in this last chapter is, without a doubt, the most incredible set of codes and patterns that you have ever seen. The number 7 is God"s very own number. If His Word is going to have an association with any number, it would be this one. Please read very carefully, and let the Spirit guide you into all wisdom and knowledge.

The number 7 is associated with God, and with Divine completion and perfection. It has become apparent to most who read the scriptures, that the number 7 is the most significant number in all of the scriptures. It is the number most often mentioned when you ask someone to give them a number out of the Bible. As a person reads the Bible, they often encounter this number and conclude that there must be some very special significance to the use of this number in the passage that they are reading. With that in mind, it stands to reason that there must be some extremely important patterns that are associated with the number 7. As you read through this section, you will understand that the use of the number 7 in the King James Version, is what sets it apart from the other English translations. Here are many of the various patterns associated with the number 7.

The very first version of the written Word of God was a little, two tablet book commonly called The Ten Commandments. They are the basis of the laws that govern this great nation. The devil is increasing his attack on the Ten Commandments because of what they represent. God has placed a very important value on the Ten Commandments, for, we find them located in the 70th chapter of the Bible, Exodus 20. The Bible mentions that they were written on "tables of stone." In fact, the Bible mentions 14 (7x2) times that they are written on tables of stone.

As I mentioned earlier, it is very clear that the words, phrases, verses, chapters and books of the scriptures have been arranged in a perfect order. It would be impossible for men to manipulate a group of documents in this manner, especially men who, in many cases, lived thousands of years apart. One pattern that I discovered about the Divine arrangement of the Scriptures was revealed to me as I read Genesis 1:1. This verse details the beginning of the creation of God. Notice it is in the first book of the Bible, the first chapter, the first verse. The first things always belong to God. I remembered that there was another place where there is a similar passage. It is in John 1:1. Notice that it also begins with "In the beginning", that it is in chapter 1, and verse 1, but what about the book. It is not the first book of the New Testament. However, from Genesis to Luke, there are exactly 42 (7x6) books. This makes John the first book of a whole new set!

How do we know which Bible to use" The bible you use must be the true "Word of God." We are told that Jesus is the Word of God in John 1:1. He is also given that title in I John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." It seems odd that most of the modern translations omit verse 7, or place a question mark by it in the form of a note that says that this passage does not appear in some Greek texts! The phrase "word of God" is found exactly 49 times (7x7) in the Authorized Version of the Bible!

Jesus and the Bible are forever linked together. They are in reality, the same thing. He is truly the Word of God. The title of "the Word" that is given to Jesus is found exactly 7 times in 5 verses, including being found in I John chapter 5 verse 7! They are listed below.

(John 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

(John 1:14) "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

(1 John 1:1) "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;"

(1 John 5:7) "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

(Rev 19:13) "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God."

These verses are copied exactly as they are found in the Scriptures. I have added emphasis to some of the words, but have not changed them in any other form. The capitalized "w" at the beginning of "Word" was put there by the translators, but was not contained in the Greek manuscripts. Do we yet not believe that the Hand of the Almighty was on these men as they compiled and translated this sacred Book" Does the Bible you read and trust in contain this Divine pattern"

The number 49, being the product of 7x7 is a tremendous number, for it compounds the idea of completion that we find in the number 7. This very equation is found right in the text of the scriptures themselves.

(Lev 25:8) "And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years."

Since this number was so important to God, it is very reasonable to assume that His Word and His Son should be associated with this number. It reveals to us in these last days, exactly who His Son is, and now reveals to us which Bible is His truly inspired Word.

The Bible itself states that the Word of God is a book of parables. The word "parable" is found 49 times. The word "parable" is found 7 times in the book of Numbers. All of them are found in chapters 23 and 24, and all of them are spoken by Balaam, the first time being found in verse 7 because, (Num 23:5-7) ""the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak. {6} And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab. {7} And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel." In Psalm 78, we are told that God speaks his Word by means of the parable, (Psa 78:1-2) "Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. {2} I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:". And we are also told that all the words of Jesus are in parable form, (Mat 13:34) "All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:".

It was Paul who warned us about a false gospel.

(Gal 1:8-9) "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. {9} As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Notice that this warning was so strong that he mentions it twice to get the point across. There is a difference between the real Word of God, and the false gospel. Paul and Peter made sure that we understood this, because they spoke of The gospel of God. This phrase is found exactly 7 times in the scriptures. The 7th time it is used is an indication of what will happen to those who do not obey the real gospel.

(1 Pet 4:17) "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God""

As we have seen before, the Holy Spirit is represented elsewhere in the scriptures as being the "breath" of God. God tells us in Ezekiel 37:14 that He will "put my breath in you, and ye shall live." In Genesis, God did this with Adam. (Gen 2:7) "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." This is the first place we find the word "breath". Notice that it is in verse 7. The word "breath" is found 42 times. God took the number for man (6) and multiplied it by the number for God (7).

In the two listings of the lineage of Jesus Christ is the manifestation of 7 displayed. The account given for us in Matthew chapter 1 lists 42 (6x7) generations from Abraham. The account given for us in Luke chapter 3 lists 77 generations from God who created Adam, the first "son of God", to Jesus, the "true Son of God." Jesus" title of "Son of God" in its various forms is found 49 (7x7) times in the New Testament. It is found only one time in the Old Testament, recorded in the book of Daniel.

(Dan 3:25) "He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."

Check your modern translations for this verse. The NIV records it as "a son of the gods." There can be no mistaking that this points to Antichrist and not the real Christ! The scriptures do attribute a "god" status to fallen angels. The word "gods" is found a total of 244 times in the scriptures. This is a product which has the number for the world (4) as its multiplier (4x61). These false "gods" are truly earthly and not heavenly.

Our Savior is also given the title of "Son of Man". This phrase is found 196 times in the AV. This number breaks down to 49 (7x7) x 4! The last place that this phrase is used is in Revelation 14 verse 14! Check your modern translations for this same pattern. Is this title found exactly this many times in any other translation" I do not believe that it exists outside the King James Version.

In John 12, the doubters ask Jesus a very simple question. (John 12:34) "".who is this Son of man""

I know who it is. It is Jesus Christ. How do I know for sure" It is all in the numbers. The phrase "Jesus Christ" is found exactly 196 times in the King James. The exact amount of times that the "Son of Man" is found!

The unity of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Church is established exactly 7 times in the King James Bible by use of the phrase "are one." This phrase is only found 7 times in the scriptures, and, it is not associated with any other idea.

(John 10:30) "I and my Father are one."

(John 17:22) "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:"

(Rom 12:5) "So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another."

(1 Cor 3:8) "Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour."

(1 Cor 10:17) "For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread."

(1 Cor 12:12) "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ."

(1 John 5:7) "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Comparing this pattern with the NIV, I discovered that in Romans 12:5, this phrase has been divided up to change the meaning, in I Cor. 3:8, the phrase is missing and replaced with "have one purpose", which is not the same as being one with someone especially God. God and Satan have the same purpose, to draw all men in worship to each of them respectively, but this does not make them "one." In I Cor. 10:17, the phrase "are one bread" is replaced with "are one body", the phrase is omitted in I Cor. 12:12, and the entire verse of I John 5:7 is completely gone.

There is a two-word phrase that is used repeatedly in the scriptures to describe the total authority and power of Almighty God. It is the phrase "most high". Truly, our God is the Most High God. He is given this title exactly 49 times in the Scriptures. Listed below, are the places where this title is either mentioned in the 7th chapter, the 7th verse, or one of its multiples.

Genesis 14:18, Genesis 14:19, Genesis 14:20, Genesis 14:22, Psalm 7:17, Psalm 21:7, Psalm 77:10, Isaiah 14:14, Daniel 7:18, Daniel 7:22, Daniel 7:25, Daniel 7:27, Hosea 7:16, Hosea 11:7, Mark 5:7, Acts 7:48, Hebrews 7:1.

Isaiah 14:14 is the verse where we find that Lucifer"s sole desire is to be like theMost High. Hebrews 7:1 is the 49th place that you find God"s special title of Most High.

As we saw earlier, Jesus" title of "Christ" is found 555 times in the Bible. We also found, according to the lineage of Luke chapter 3, that He is the 77th in line from God the Father. When we count forward to the 555th chapter of the Bible, we find that it takes us to Psalm 77! Our God is a God of perfect order, and so then is His Word. Might it also surprise you to know that the word "church" is found 77 times in the Authorized Version"!!!!

Now, let"s take this just a little further. Let"s look at the 77th chapter of the Bible. It is Exodus 27 (20+7). This chapter has 21 (7x3) verses in it. In the 21st verse we find this passage.

(Exo 27:21) "In the tabernacle of the congregation without the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel."

This phrase is a common phrase that refers to the church of the Old Testament. This is the first occurrence of this name for the church. It is found in the 77th chapter of the Bible, the 21st verse. This phrase is found exactly 21 (7x3) times in the Book of Exodus. It is found exactly 133 (7x19) times in the whole Bible! (19 just happens to be 7+12!)

And the list goes on and on.

Allow me to display some of the 7 related patterns in column form. In this first column, we will list the various titles and attributes given to God and His Son Jesus, followed by the number of times that particular phrase is mentioned in the KJV.

Son of Man 196 times (49x4)

Jesus Christ 196 times (49x4)

Word of God 49 times (7x7)

Son of God 49 times in the New Testament (only once in OT)

Most High 49 times

The Word of the Lord 245 times (49x5)

The Word 7 times

Holy Spirit 7 times

Breath (form of Spirit) 42 times (6x7)

Thunders (God"s voice) 7 times

God of Israel 203 times (7x29)

I will now list for you the various names that are identified with the Church, along with the number of times they are mentioned in the scriptures. Many of these have not previously been mentioned.

Church 77 times (as in the 77 generations of Luke 3)

Kingdom of God 70 times, found only in the New Testament

Assembly 49 times

Bride 14 times

Firstfruits 7 times in the New Testament

Daughter of Zion (or Sion) 28 times (7x4)

Daughters of Jerusalem 7 times (all in the Song of Solomon, found only one other time in Luke 23:28)

Children of Israel 644 times (7x92)

Congregation 49 times in the Book of Exodus

Tabernacle of the Congregation 21 times in Exodus (7x3)

56 times in Numbers (7x8)

Witnesses 49 times

Fishers (as in fishers of men) 7 times

Peculiar 7 times

Kinsmen 7 times

Worshippers 7 times

Workmanship 7 times

If in the course of my study, I had encountered one or two of these patterns, I might not have thought too much of it. But as you can clearly see, the evidence is overwhelming, and is growing day by day. There has not been a single time, when I dedicated myself, my time and my study to the Lord, relying on His inspiration, that I have not been shown more of His signature in the King James Bible. It is my hope that all who discover these wonderful truths, will also come to revere this most special of all books, the way I have.

Some Differences in the NIV compared to the KJV! Words, whole verses left out, changed, etc.
Comments by Danny D. Bunn B.A., (Born-Again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ)

Matt. 5:22--
"22. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be in subject to the judgment." NIV
"22. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:" KJV
Jesus is in trouble based on this verse in the NIV. KJV makes it plain that it is in reference to those who are angry with their brother without a cause. The Bible tells us to be angry and sin not in Eph 4:26, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:" A righteous anger is not sin.

Matt. 6:13--
"13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."NIV
"13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." KJV
Check the footnote in the NIV. They took out "for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen" Could it be that it casts more doubt on the KJV and on the word as a whole" They're liars, plain and simple.
Even using this verse and the part that they left. Which is correct" "..deliver us from the evil one" or "..deliver us from evil." If we are delivered from the evil one, we are not delivered from evil but we are delivered from the evil one when we are delivered from evil.
Matt. 6:33--
"33.But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." NIV
"33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." KJV
Who's kingdom" his, who else's. Isn't 'kingdom of God' clearer as the KJV puts it"
Matt. 9:13--
"13.... I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."NIV
"13.... I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." KJV
Why is "to repentance' left out" It is probably not important, he just came to call sinners to supper or something. (Cf.) Luke 13:3.
Matt. 9:18--
"18.While he was saying this, a ruler came and knelt before him and said, 'My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.'" NIV
"18.While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live." KJV
The KJV lets us know that the ruler worshipped Jesus yet the NIV shows us the ruler knelt. People have knelt before people but it isn't worship.
Matt. 16:18--
"18. 'And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hades will not overcome it.'" NIV
"18. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." KJV
In the footnote of my NIV, it says, 'Peter means rock'. What they want is you to associate the rock that Jesus is building His Church on with Peter. Jesus wasn't saying that. He uses a different Greek word for Peter (Petros) and the rock on which he is going to build His Church is (Petra) and Jesus is called the Petra in the Bible in I Cor. 10:4 to name one.
Matt. 17:21--
21." " NIV
"21. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." KJV
Taken out, it's in the footnote in my NIV.
Mark 5:6--
"6. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him." NIV
"6. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him," KJV
The guy fell"! To fall on your knees isn't worship either.
Mark 7:16--
16." "NIV
"16. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." KJV
I think that Westcott and Hort didn't like that verse since they were kind of like the Pharisees and Sadducees of Jesus' day, they didn't have ears to hear so it went to the footnote.
Mark 11:26--
26." " NIV
"26. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." KJV
They put it in the footnote but at least they left it in Matt. 6:15.
Luke 2--
"33.The child's mother and father marveled at what was said about him." NIV
"48.When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, 'Son, why have you treated us
like this" Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.'"
"'49.Why were you searching for me"' he asked, 'Didn't you know that I had to be in my Father's house"'" NIV
"33. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. KJV
"48.And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us" behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
"49.And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me" wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business"" KJV
Verse 33 is speaking from God's viewpoint, hence the NIV isn't true regarding father. Verse 48 is speaking from Mary's viewpoint, Joseph is Jesus's step-father. Verse 49, Jesus said that he must be about his Father's business, not house. Jesus tells who is Father is, God by the statement and by his life in the word, we see that he wasn't at the temple much.
Luke 4:3,4--
"3.The devil said to him, 'If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.'
4. Jesus answered, 'It is written:'Man does not live on bread alone.'"NIV
(A side of potatoes goes good with bread.)
"3. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4.And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." KJV
Know that you don't live by bread alone, we need some spiritual milk in the NIV. Compare KJV. (cf.) I Peter 2:2
Luke 4:18--
"18. The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom to the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed," NIV
"18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," KJV
Why did they leave out "to heal the broken-hearted", it's in Isa.61:1,2 he is quoting from.
Luke 9:31--
"31. appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem." NIV
"31.Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem." KJV
He came to die for the sins of the world, not to depart for the sins of the world. Which is clearer"
John 6:47--
"47. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life." NIV
"47.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." KJV
Believes what" Isn't 'on me' clearer" I 'believe' that it is going to rain so I'm saved.
Acts 2:38--
"38. Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." NIV ('78 edition)
"38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." KJV
In the '78 edition it's wrong, changed in the newer editions. We don't get baptized to get forgivenss of sins, we get baptized for the remission of sins. QUESTION: If you took an aspirin for a headache, do you take it to get a headache or because you already have one" Do you get baptized whether in water or the Holy Spirit to get remission of sins or because you already have it"
Acts 4:31--
"31. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." NIV
"31. By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." KJV
Is Jesus a servant of God or His child (Cf.) John 3:16
Acts 8:37--
37." " NIV
"37. "And Philip said, If thou believeth with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." KJV
It is out but at least it made it to the footnote in some NIV's.
Acts 9:6(a)--
"6. " " NIV
"6. "And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do" And...."
It's out, it's not even in the footnote of the NIV that I have. (Cf.)Acts 22:10 So Paul asked a question that Jesus answered that is not in the NIV. Also check out Romans 10:9,10 in regards to Acts 8 & 9
Rom. 14:9-12-- (cf.) Phil. 2:10,11; Acts 22:16
"9. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
10. You then, why do you judge your brother" Or why do you look down on your brother" For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.
11. It is written: 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'Every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'
12. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God." NIV
"9. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10. But why dost thou judge thy brother" or why dost thou set at nought thy brother" for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."KJV
The KJV shows us Christ is God, the NIV shows us God is God, which we already know.
II Cor. 2:17--
"17. Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God." NIV
"17. For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ." KJV
The NIV shot the 'Christian' Bookstores to pieces with this verse, it's better to make them bite the bullet than the so-called scholars of the NIV and they are corrupting their bible.
Eph. 5:9--
"9.(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)NIV
"9.(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)KJV
Sounds pretty New Age, doesn't it" NIV- 'the light', KJV- 'the Spirit'
Phil. 3:3--
"3. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God.." NIV
"3. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit,.." KJV
Check John 4:24.
Which is clearer, 'worship God in the Spirit' or 'worship by the Spirit of God'. Which would false religions like better"
Col. 1:14--
"14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." NIV
"14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
(Cf.) Eph. 1:7-- His blood is not important, is it" Also Acts 20:28
Col. 2:8--
"8. See to it that no one takes you captive through hallow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." NIV
"8. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." KJV
This is being done today.

Garden Tools Verses the Word Of God

Food for thought, Every disciple that Jesus had was baptized the Baptist way. Submersed, and they were submersed based on the very Word of God. They took Him at His Word and were baptized. The took Him at His WORD and followed Him.

His Word was their guide.

Matthew 24:35, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
Luke 22: 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

Notice the "NOW"  Until now things have been easy. But is it going to get rough from here on out.
There is a demonic battle coming, a fleshly battle coming, a religious battle coming.
Every man
go and buy a sword if you have no sword " just go GET YOU ONE !  Only One was needed.

The battles we have today NO METAL SWORD can handle!
(Eph 6:11 KJV) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

(Eph 6:12 KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (13 ) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Armor  we are going to WAR not a picnic
Can not go to war with just DEFENSE " with just armor --You need a SWORD- A supernatural weapon "the Word of God.

When Jesus fought with Satan He said " IT IS WRITTEN"
And folks it is still written today. Has not changed in over 2000 years.

If you were as smart as the Devil you would try to get the weapon out of the hands of the warriors.

FACT: The Devil does not want you to have a Supernatural Sword.

Let's read (1 Sam 13:19 KJV) Now there was no smith (NO BLACKSMITH worker of metal) found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

(1 Sam 13:20 KJV) But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his ax, and his mattock. ( coulter " agriculture tools "plowshares )
(1 Sam 13:21 KJV) Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
(1 Sam 13:22 KJV) So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.

King Saul closed down all the Blacksmith Shops " He fell for the lies of the Philistines who were the enemies of God
Result was: (1 Sam 13:22 KJV) So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people...."

Devil said, let"s give them GARDENING TOOLS instead of SWORDS " then we will attack.
Take away their swords and give them gardening tools.

The Devil Left them HELPLESS, DEFENSELESS WEEK - no swords, just gardening tools.
JESUS Said, Buy a sword, not a garden rake, not a water hose, not a shovel, He said, BUY A SWORD.

I've been going to Baptist churches for over 30 years. Every pastor I've ever had as a pastor preached from the King James Bible. He always said to the crowd, "Open your Bibles and let's hear what the Lord says."

It is amazing how well this nation did when we didn't know how ignorant we were. (Are you listening") This is my only pastorate of 14 years, and I have been preaching from this book ( my SWORD - the King James Version 1611 edition) for over 20 years. I've seen miracles in my pastorate from the power of this BOOK.

I've preached thousands of SERMONS AND LESSONS from this book, and I've never yet preached a sermon that wasn't preached from the King James Bible. To be quite frank with you, I've seen fellows who preach from other Bibles, and I somehow get the idea THEY are missing something. I've never seen a fellow really whoop it up about any other Bible. I've never heard a fellow say, "Blessed be God, let's look in the Book" and then preach with such power and conviction as I have when I heard men preach from THIS Book. The very sword of Almighty God.

Let's look in the Douay Version." Did you ever go to mass and have the priest get up and say, "Hallelujah for the Word of God!" Don't get mad at me! I'm telling the truth. If you don't believe it, go next Sunday and see. He will usually use that prayer book and not a Bible.

Follow me, Now. I've taught you about the textus receptus, Wescott and Hort, those manuscripts from which came the Douay Version that the Catholics use and the American Standard Version, which is highly overrated. The Wescott and Hort manuscripts came from the Vatican manuscripts that were hidden in the Vatican for years-- from whence came the Catholic Bible.

The textus receptus manuscripts are those from which we have gotten the King James, and they have been the evangelistic manuscripts, if you please. I won't go into that. I'm a textus receptus man. This is the message. The question at hand is this: Where is the final authority for the church and for Christian living"

We've got to have it! I mean, shall we have an authority we can't find" Would God tell us His Word is the final authority and leave us without His Word" We must have a copy or we may as well join our cultic friends and let the church be the basis for truth.

If we have no Word of God, and if the Bible is not the Word of God, then we have only three other alternatives. We've got to say the final authority will be a religious human organization, or human experience, or human reasoning.

I'm saying, if we have no Bible that is the Word of God, then we have no way to go to the Book for the final authority. If one word in this Bible is not true, we don't know which one it is; so, once again, the mind of man or experience or the church is going to have to decide which one is true and which one is not true.

Listen FOLKS: If we are going to believe that the Word of God is the final authority, we've got to have a copy of it. It being the WORD OF GOD not some perversion.

Jesus said, (Rom 10:17 KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

(Rom 15:19 KJV) Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

(1 Cor 14:33 KJV) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Devil knows which one is the WORD of God
He wants you to lay your sword down,
(1 Cor 4:13 KJV) Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

He will provide some garden tools for you if you will just lay down your sword.

God gave the 1611 KJV Bible to the English speaking people so that we could evangelize the world with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. He did not give us a perversion, nor a watered down replica - He gave us HIS WORD, not some watered down, I do not want to offend the Devil version. Take up the Sword of God , The Sword of the Holy Spirit and fight the enemy with the very power of the God of creation -- His Word.

Have you ever thought about this. ONLY the English-speaking people have been evangelizing this world for the last 400 years. Many have taught others of foreign lands to evangelize, but those were first taught by English speaking people who used the KJV 1611 Bible, And God gave us the very WORD OF GOD to get the job done. The SWORD of God is in my hand today!

Devil does not fear garden tools, NIV - New this and New that - The Taylor Living Bible, The Modified New KJV

Jesus said buy a SWORD " Go to WAR
You can not fight the Devil with garden tools " You must Preach the Word of GOD in which He Gave us.
He said to use the Incorruptible seed not the corruptible seed.
Fight the powers of darkness with the WORD OF GOD not garden tools.

(1 Cor 15:35 KJV) But some man will say, How are the dead raised up" And with what body do they come"
(1 Cor 15:42 KJV) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
(1 Cor 15:55 KJV) O death, where is thy sting" O grave, where is thy victory"
Talking about the Resurrection! Agreed!
Body coming out of the GRAVE

Now lets read the NKJV

(1 Cor 15:35 NKJV) But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up" And with what body do they come""
(1 Cor 15:42 NKJV) So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
(1 Cor 15:55 NKJV) "O Death, where is your sting" O Hades, where is your victory""
Body coming out of Hell ( Hades)

BIBLE SAYS:

(John 8:44 KJV) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Let"s read the NKJV

(Mark 1:14 NKJV) Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
(Mark 1:15 NKJV) and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

Did you catch that,   KJV said to THE GOSPEL and the NKJV says to believe IN the gospel

LISTEN: Cults believe in the gospel, Devil believes in the gospel
(James 2:19 KJV) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
THE
GOSPEL not In the Gospel

Satan is the father of all lies "if the NKJV told a lie then whose book is it" Satan"s.

Here is an attack on His deity: First let's read from the KJV - God's Word to us:
(Mat 20:20 KJV) Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

(Mat 20:20 NKJV) Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.

Hey, I can kneel down and pick up a paper clip and not worship a paper clip
Kneeling is not worshipping

You can go to church an kneel at the altars and still not worship God.

You can walk down the street though and worship, You can be riding in your car and worship, if the worship is given to God by you. You do not even have to be in a church to worship God.

FURTHER NOTES OF STUDY:
Taken from http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/sbs777/vital/kjv/part1-3.html

Before we consider the King James Version (KJV) and a few of the modern translations in use today, let us first consider certain Greek texts from which all New Testament translations are derived. Foremost amongst these is the Traditional Received Text (Textus Receptus), also called the Byzantine Text or the Majority Text because it is based on the vast majority of manuscripts still in existence. These extant manuscripts (MSS) were brought together by various editors such as Lucian (AD 250-312), Erasmus, Stephanus, Beza and the Elzevir brothers to form the text known as Textus Receptus, the name given to the Majority Text in the 17th century. The most notable editor of all was Desiderius Erasmus (1466-1536) one of the greatest scholars the world has ever known. When the early Protestant Reformers of the 16th and 17th centuries decided to translate the scriptures directly from Greek into the languages of Europe, they selected Textus Receptus as their foundation Greek document. It is vitally important to understand why they did so.

Wilkinson writes in his book Truth Triumphant:

Quote:
"The Protestant denominations are built upon that manuscript of the Greek New Testament sometimes called Textus Receptus, or the Received Text. It is that Greek New Testament from which the writings of the apostles in Greek have been translated into English, German, Dutch and other languages. During the dark ages the Received Text was practically unknown outside the Greek Church. It was restored to Christendom by the labours of that great scholar Erasmus. It is altogether too little known that the real editor of the Received Text was Lucian. None of Lucian's enemies fails to credit him with this work. Neither Lucian nor Erasmus, but rather the apostles, wrote the Greek New Testament. However, Lucian's day was an age of apostasy when a flood of depravations was systematically attempting to devastate both the Bible manuscripts and Bible theology. Origen, of the Alexandrian college, made his editions and commentaries of the Bible a secure retreat for all errors, and deformed them with philosophical speculations introducing casuistry and lying. Lucian's unrivalled success in verifying, safeguarding, and transmitting those divine writings left a heritage for which all generations should be thankful." (Ref: J2)

The King James Bible Old Testament was translated from the Ben Chayyim Masoretic Text; named after Jacob ben Chayyim, under whose editorship it was printed in in 1524-5).

 Two Bibles

In his book Which Bible" David Otis Fuller says this about Textus Receptus. Carefully note Fuller's first point that all churches (we could now add all Bible students) fall into one of two basic study categories:

  • Those who use a variety of Bibles influenced by the Minority Text (the Nestle/Aland Text). For 45 years I was in this camp; but I thank God for opening my eyes.
  • Those who only study Bibles based on the Majority Text, from which came the Received Text - Textus Receptus. I have now joined this camp.

Fuller continues:

Quote:
"First of all, the Textus Receptus was the Bible of early Eastern Christianity. Later it was adopted as the official text of the Greek Catholic Church. There were local reasons which contributed to this result. But, probably, far greater reasons will be found in the fact that the Received Text had authority enough to become, either in itself or by its translation, the Bible of the great Syrian Church; of the Waldensian Church of northern Italy; of the Gallic Church in southern France; and of the Celtic Church in Scotland and Ireland; as well as the official Bible of the Greek Catholic Church. All these churches, some earlier, some later, were in opposition to the Church of Rome and at a time when the Received Text and these Bibles of the Constantine type were rivals. They, as represented in their descendants, are rivals to this day. The Church of Rome built on the Eusebio-Origen type of Bible; these others built on the Received Text. Therefore, because they themselves believed that the Received Text was the true apostolic Bible, and further, because the Church of Rome arrogated to itself the power to choose a Bible which bore the marks of systematic depravation, we have the testimony of these five churches to the authenticity and the apostolicity of the Received Text." ( Ref: F1)

Why did the early churches of the 2 nd and 3rd centuries and all the Protestant Reformers of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries choose Textus Receptus in preference to the Minority Text"
The answer is because:

  • Textus Receptus is based on the vast majority (90%) of the 5000+ Greek manuscripts in existence. That is why it is also called the Majority Text.
  • Textus Receptus is not mutilated with deletions, additions and amendments, as is the Minority Text.
  • Textus Receptus agrees with the earliest versions of the Bible: Peshitta (AD150) Old Latin Vulgate (AD157), the Italic Bible (AD157) etc. These Bibles were produced some 200 years before the minority Egyptian codices favoured by the Roman Church. Remember this vital point.
  • Textus Receptus agrees wih the vast majority of the 86,000+ citations from scripture by the early church fathers.
  • Textus Receptus is untainted with Egyptian philosophy and unbelief.
  • Textus Receptus strongly upholds the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith: the creation account in Genesis, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, the Saviour's miracles, his bodily resurrection, his literal return and the cleansing power of his blood!
  • Textus Receptus was - and still is - the enemy of the Roman Church. This is an important fact to bear in mind.

Reverend Gipp comments further:

Quote:
"The Majority Text has been known throughout history by several names. It has been known as the Byzantine text, the Imperial Text, the Traditional Text and the Reformation Text as well as the Majority Text. This text culminates in the TEXTUS RECEPTUS or Received Text which is the basis for the King James Bible, which we know also as the Authorized Version....We describe this text with the term "Universal," because it represents the majority of extant MSS which represent the original autographs. Professor Hodges of Dallas Theological Seminary explains, "The manuscript of an ancient book will, under any but the most exceptional conditions, multiply in a reasonable regular fashion with the result that the copies nearest the autograph will normally have the largest number of descendants." (Ref:B3)

Continuing from page 66 in Gipp's book:
Quote:
"Professor Hodges concludes, 'Thus the Majority text, upon which the King James Version is based, has in reality the strongest claim possible to be regarded as an authentic representation of the original text. This claim is quite independent of any shifting consensus of scholarly judgment about its readings and is based on the objective reality of its dominance in the transmissional history of the New Testament text.' " (Ref:B4)

In his book God Wrote Only One Bible, Jasper J Ray pens the following testimony about Textus Receptus:

Quote:
"Wonder of wonders, in the midst of all the present confusion regarding manuscripts, we still have a Bible we can trust. The writing of the Word of God by inspiration is no greater miracle than the miracle of its preservation in the Textus Receptus. All criticism of this text from which was translated the King James Bible, is based upon an unproved hypothesis: i.e. that there are older and more dependable copies of the original Bible manuscripts. No one in nineteen hundred years, has been able to prove that one jot or tittle has been inserted or taken out." (Ref:D3)

In his book Final Authority, William P Grady provides further interesting details about Textus Receptus, the Received Text:

Quote:
"For instance, over
5,000 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament exist today ranging from small fragments containing two or three verses to nearly entire Bibles. Their ages vary from the second to the sixteenth century; the manuscripts are ending with the arrival of printing. By comparison, there exist only ten quality manuscripts of Caesar's Gallic War composed between 58-50BC" "Once again, the outstanding features of the Received Text is its high percentage of agreement among so many thousands of independent witnesses. This agreement is often placed at about 90 percent; in other words, 90 percent of all existing manuscripts agree with one another so miraculously that they are able to form their own unique text"

If the critic of your King James Bible is correct in his rejection of the underlying Textus Receptus, then he is also under the greatest pressure to account for its existence. To complain of fabrication is one thing, but to account for its universal prevalence is quite another. Whenever a large body of ancient documents are seen to be in agreement, this inexplicable harmony becomes their greatest evidence for legitimacy. Simple arithmetic confirms that the nearer a particular reading is to the original, the longer the time span will be for descendants to follow. The longer the family is, the older the original source must be."(Ref: E1)

Question:   Where can I obtain a copy of the Textus Receptus"
Answer:   A paperback (800 pages) entitled The Interlinear Greek-English N.T. by Berry is obtainable from:   Eye Opener Publications P.O. Box 7944, Eugene, Oregon 97401 U.S.A.   This is the Textus Receptus from which the KJV was translated in 1611. Literal modern English words appear between the Greek lines and under each word, making it possible for anyone to make an accurate check of all Bibles versions. The KJV appears in the margins. Notice in how many ways modern translations vary from the Greek text.

9. THE MINORITY TEXTS

There are other extant Greek texts which are referred to as the 'Minority Texts' simply because they represent only about 5% of existing manuscripts. Another 5% are Neutral Texts: sometimes agreeing with the majority and at others with the minority. The 'Minority Texts' are also known as the Alexandrian Texts because they were produced in Alexandria in Egypt. The Minority Texts were rejected by the early Christians and also by all the Protestant Reformers of the 16th and 17th centuries. The Reformers, who were well aware of the existence of the Minority Texts, considered them unfit for translation purposes. These are very important points to bear in mind. Why did the early Christians and the Protestant Reformers reject the Minority Texts"

The answer is:

  • The Minority Texts were the work of unbelieving Egyptian scribes who did not accept the Bible as the Word of God or JESUS as the SON of GOD!
  • The Minority Texts abound with alterations, often a single manuscript being amended by several different scribes over a period of many years; something the Aaronic priests and Masorites would never have tolerated when making copies of the Scriptures.
  • The Minority Texts omit approximately 200 verses from the Scriptures. This is equivalent to 1st and 2nd Peter. Pause and consider that stunning fact!
  • The Minority Texts contradict themselves in hundreds of places.
  • The Minority Texts are doctrinally weak and often dangerously incorrect.

Proof of these astonishing allegations will follow in Part Two where we will take a close look at some 80+ Bible verses corrupted by the Minority Text.

Yet, startling as it may sound, virtually every modern English Bible relies on the Minority Text as its underlying New Testament text in preference to Textus Receptus! Isn't that an amazing revelation" What brought about this almost incredible switch from the reliable Textus Receptus, beloved by the early Christian church and the Protestant Reformers, to the corrupt minority text favoured by the Roman Catholic Church" It is important that you find out soon: because the modern "Bible" you may be faithfully studying every day is really nothing more than a counterfeit posing as the Word of God! If it is any consolation to you, do remember that I was equally in the dark and totally devastated by my findings.

Misleading Footnotes

Modern translations abound with misleading footnotes, which do little else but cast doubt on the King James Version. Examples are:
  • The Hebrew of this line is obscure.
  • The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain - or unknown.
  • Other ancient mss add "
  • Other ancient mss omit"
  • Other ancient mss read "
  • Other ancient mss insert "
  • Some early mss read"
  • The most ancient authorities omit John 7:53 - 8:11
  • The best manuscripts omit this verse. (e.g. Matt.17:21, 18:11, 23:14, Mark 7:16, John 5:4)
  • Some of the most ancient authorities bring the book (Mark) to a close at the end of Mark 16:8
  • Many mss do not contain the remainder of this verse. (e.g. Acts 8:37)
  • Many ancient authorities read"
  • Not found in most of the old mss.(e.g. John 7:53-8:11)

In this article we will not analyse these footnotes, simply because there are scores of them scattered throughout the modern translations and each has a slightly different slant. However, one thing they all have in common: and that is, they ALL cast doubt on the accuracy of the Authorised King James Bible! By implication they all claim to be more accurate and reliable than the King James Version. In the preface of the Revised Standard Version (RSV) we read this misleading statement. "Yet the King James Version has grave defects." Oh how subtle is Satan, how evil and how sinister! The stunning fact is: the very opposite is true. The King James Version is infinitely more accurate and reliable than ANY modern English translation on the market today. And that is why for nearly 400 years it has had - and continues to have - the blessing of the Almighty God upon it: something no modern version or translation can come anywhere near. Most, after a decade or two, disappear from the book shops, only to re-appear some years later with a few alterations under a new name.

How did it happen that the Minority Text supplanted the trustworthy and respected Textus Receptus which triggered the great Protestant Reformation during which tens of thousands of true believers perished by flame, famine and torture" Who is behind this dangerous deception that has engulfed the Christian Church" Do you know" Do you care" Is it important" Does it really matter"

I most certainly didn't know. But I do believe that it is vitally important that every believer know that Satan is behind it: not any particular Church, its leaders or its members - but the great enemy of souls! He is behind every deception ever aimed at the human race and millions, in and out of the church, believe his lies. I for one had been living in blissful ignorance of the danger for many years; till a massive heart attack laid me flat on my back and I was moved - yea inwardly compelled - to make a deep study of the History of God's Word and how He has providentially preserved it till today.

Now let us turn our attention to the Minority Text's two most prominent manuscripts on which most modern translations of the Bible heavily rely. They are called Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph ) and Codex Vaticanus (B). The word 'codex,' incidentally, means that the manuscript is in book form, with pages, as opposed to being a scroll. But first a little about the man whom God raised up over 150 years ago to expose the errors of the Minority Texts. His name is John Burgon.

Dean John William Burgon

John Burgon was undoubtedly one of the greatest defenders of the Greek text of the New Testament. He exposed the hundreds of amendments, deletions and additions in the Minority Text and defended the reliability of Textus Receptus till the day of his death. Unlike most Bible students and ministers of today, John Burgon was a masterful Greek scholar of the highest rank who spent much of his life browsing through the museums and libraries of Europe examining the ancient Greek manuscripts. He had first hand experience examining the Vatican texts whilst he ministered as a chaplain to a congregation in Rome. His findings are of utmost value in these days of wilful, spiritual ignorance and sin. I will quote a few extracts about this magnificent warrior from David O Fuller's book Which Bible"

Quote:
"John William Burgon was born August 21, 1813. He matriculated at Oxford in 1841, taking several high honours there, and his B.A. 1845. He took his M.A. there in 1848"the thing about Burgon, however, which lifts him out of the nineteenth century English setting and endears him to the hearts of earnest Christians of other lands and other ages is his steadfast defence of the scriptures as the infallible Word of God. He strove with all his power to arrest the modernistic currents which during his lifetime had begun to flow within the Church of England, continuing his efforts with unabated zeal up to the very day of his death. With this purpose in mind he laboured mightily in the field of New Testament textual criticism.

In 1860, while temporary chaplain of the English congregation at Rome, he made a personal examination of Codex B (Vaticanus), and in 1862 he inspected the treasures of St. Catherine's Convent on Mt. Sinai. Later he made several tours of European libraries, examining and collating New Testament manuscripts wherever he went"Of all the critics of the nineteenth century Burgon alone was consistently Christian in his vindication of the Divine inspiration and providential preservation of the text of Holy Scripture"

Burgon regarded the good state of preservation of B (Codex Vaticanus) and Aleph (Codex Sinaiticus) in spite of their exceptional age as proof not of their goodness but of their badness. If they had been good manuscripts, they would have been read to pieces long ago. We suspect that these two manuscripts are indebted for their preservation, solely to their ascertained evil character; which has occasioned that the one eventually found its way, four centuries ago, to a forgotten shelf in the Vatican Library; while the other, after exercising the ingenuity of several generations of critical Correctors, eventually (viz. in A.D.1844) got deposited in the wastepaper basket of the Convent at the foot of Mount Sinai.

Had B (Vaticanus) and Aleph (Sinaiticus) been copies of average purity, they must long since have shared the inevitable fate of books which are freely used and highly prized; namely, they would have fallen into decadence and disappeared from sight. Thus the fact that B and Aleph are so old is a point against them, not something in their favour.
It shows that the Church rejected them and did not read them. Otherwise they would have worn out and disappeared through much reading.

For an orthodox Christian Burgon's view is the only reasonable one. If we believe that God gave the Church guidance in regard to the New Testament books, then surely it is logical to believe that God gave the church similar guidance in regard to the text which these books contained"

Who but those with Roman Catholic sympathies could ever be pleased with the notion that God preserved the true New Testament text in secret for almost one thousand years and then finally handed it over to the Roman pontiff for safekeeping" Surely every orthodox Protestant will prefer to think with Burgon that God preserved the true text of the Greek New Testament in the usage of the Greek-speaking Church down through the centuries and then delivered it up intact to the Protestant reformers." (Ref:F11)

Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph)
This codex was produced in the 4th century. In his book Let's Weigh the Evidence, Barry Burton writes of Codex Sinaiticus:

Quote:

"The Sinaiticus is a manuscript that was found in 1844 in a trash pile in St.Catherine's Monastery near Mt. Sinai, by a man named Mr Tischendorf. It contains nearly all of the New Testament plus it adds the 'Shepherd of Hermes' and the 'Epistle of Barnabas' to the New Testament. The Sinaiticus is extremely unreliable, proven by examining the manuscript itself. John Burgon spent years examining every available manuscript of the New Testament. He writes about Sinaiticus...

'On many occasions 10, 20, 30, 40 words are dropped through very carelessness. Letters, words or even whole sentences are frequently written twice over, or begun and immediately cancelled; while that gross blunder, whereby a clause is omitted because it happens to end in the same words as the clause preceding, occurs no less than 115 times in the New Testament.
THAT'S NOT ALL!
On nearly every page of the manuscript there are corrections and revisions, done by 10 different people. Some of these corrections were made about the same time that it was copied, but most of them were made in the 6th and 7th century.
" Phillip Mauro, a brilliant lawyer who was admitted to the bar of the US Supreme Court in April 1892, wrote a book called "Which
Version" in the early 1900s. He writes concerning the Sinaiticus" 'From these facts, therefore, we declare: first that the impurity of the Codex Sinaiticus, in every part of it, was fully recognized by those who were best acquainted with it, and that from the very beginning until the time when it was finally cast aside as worthless for any practical purpose.' " (Ref:C1)

In his excellent book An Understandable History Of The Bible, Rev. Samuel Gipp writes of Codex Sinaiticus:

Quote:
"One of the MSS is called Sinaiticus and is represented by the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph. This MS from all outward appearances looks very beautiful. It is written in book form (codex) on vellum. It contains 147 1/2 leaves. The pages are 15" by 13 1/2" with four columns of 48 lines per page. It contains many spurious books such as the 'Shepherd of Hermes,' the 'Epistle of Barnabas' and even the Didache.

The great Greek scholar, Dr Scrivener, points this out in his historic work A Full Collation of the Codex Sinaiticus. He speaks of correctional alterations made to the MS: 'The Codex is covered with such alterations... brought in by at least ten different revisers, some of them systematically spread over every page, others occasional or limited to separated portions of the MS, many of these being contemporaneous with the first writer, but the greater part belonging to the sixth or seventh century.' " (Ref:B5)

 Codex Vaticanus (B)

The second major manuscript of the Minority Text is known as Codex Vaticanus, often referred to as 'B'. This codex was also produced in the 4th century. It was found over a thousand years later in 1481 in the Vatican library in Rome, where it is currently held. It is written on expensive vellum, a fine parchment originally from the skin of calf or antelope. Some authorities claim that it was one of a batch of 50 Bibles ordered from Egypt by the Roman Emperor Constantine; hence its beautiful appearance and the expensive skins which were used for its pages. But alas! this manuscript, like its corrupt Egyptian partner Sinaiticus (Aleph) is also riddled with omissions, insertions and amendments.

Of Codex Vaticanus Samuel Gipp writes on page 72:

Quote:

"This codex omits many portions of Scripture vital to Christian doctrine. Vaticanus omits Genesis 1.1 through Genesis 46:28; Psalms 106 through 138; Matthew 16:2,3; Romans 16:24; the Pauline Pastoral Epistles; Revelation; and everything in Hebrews after 9:14.

It seems suspicious indeed that a MS possessed by the Roman Catholic church omits the portion of the book of Hebrews which exposes the 'mass' as totally useless (Please read Hebrews 10:10-12). The 'mass' in conjunction with the false doctrine of purgatory go hand-in-hand to form a perpetual money making machine for Rome. Without one or the other, the Roman Catholic Church would go broke!

It also omits portions of the Scripture telling of the creation (Genesis), the prophetic details of the crucifixion (Psalm 22), and, of course, the portion which prophesies of the destruction of Babylon (Rome), the great whore of Revelation chapter 17.

Vaticanus , though intact physically, is found to be in poor literary quality. Dr Martin declares, 'B' exhibits numerous places where the scribe has written the same word or phrase twice in succession. Dr J Smythe states, 'From one end to the other, the whole manuscript has been travelled over by the pen of some" scribe of about the tenth century.' If Vaticanus was considered a trustworthy text originally, the mass of corrections and scribal changes obviously render its testimony highly suspicious and questionable."

Rev. Gipp continues on page 73:
Quote:
"The corrupt and unreliable nature of these two MSS (Sinaiticus and Vaticanus) is best summed up by one who has thoroughly examined them, John W Burgon: 'The impurity of the text exhibited by these codices is not a question of opinion but fact...In the Gospels alone, Codex B(Vatican) leaves out words or whole clauses no less than 1,491 times. It bears traces of careless transcriptions on every page"

If we are to be thorough and discriminatory in our evaluation of the true New Testament text, then we must not -- we cannot -- overlook these facts.' How did these MSS come into being" How did it happen that they should be beautiful to the eye, yet within contain such vile and devastating corruption" It seems that these uncial MSS along with the papyrus MSS included in this category all resulted from a revision of the true, or Universal Text. This revision was enacted in Egypt by Egyptian scribes! " (Ref:B6)

Rev. Gipp continues:
Quote:
"So we see that once a pure copy of the Universal Text (Textus Receptus) had been carried down into Egypt, it was recopied. During the process of this recopying, it was revised by men who did not revere it as truly the Word of God. This text was examined by the critical eye of Greek philosophy and Egyptian morals. These men saw nothing wrong with putting the Book in subjection to their opinion instead of their opinion being in subjection to the book. This process produced a text which was local to the educational centre of Alexandria, Egypt. This text went no further than southern Italy where the Roman Catholic Church found its unstable character perfect for overthrowing the true Word of God which was being used universally by the true Christians."
(Ref:B7)

The Westminster Dictionary of the Bible has this to say about Codex Vaticanus (B) on page 624 under the article Versions.

Quote:
" It should be noted, however, that there is no prominent Biblical MS. in which there occur such gross cases of misspelling, faulty grammar, and omission, as in B." (Ref:H2)

Barry Burton comments further:

Quote:
"For one thing"Vaticanus and Sinaiticus disagree with each other over 3000 times in the gospels alone"
Facts about the Vaticanus.

"It was written on fine vellum (tanned animal skins) and remains in excellent condition. It was found in the Vatican Library in 1481 AD. In spite of being in excellent condition, it omits Genesis 1:1-Gen.46:28, Psalm 106-138, Matt.16:2-3, the Pauline pastoral Epistles, Hebrews 9:14-13:25, and all of Revelation. These parts were probably left out on purpose."

"Besides all that - in the gospels alone it leaves out 237 words, 452 clauses and 748 whole sentences, which hundreds of later copies agree together as having the same words in the same places, the same clauses in the same places and the same sentences in the same places... The Vaticanus was available to the translators of the King James Bible, but they did not use it because they knew it is unreliable." (Ref:C2)

Dean Burgon comments on Codices Sinaiticus (Aleph)and Vaticanus.

Quote:
"Compromise of any sort between the two conflicting parties, is impossible; for they simply contradict one another. Codd.B and Aleph are either amongst the purist of manuscripts,- or else they are among the very foulest. The Text of Drs.Westcott and Hort is either the very best which has ever appeared,- or else it is the very worst; the nearest to the sacred Autographs,- or furthest from them."" "There is no room for both opinions; and there cannot exist any middle view." (Ref: P3)

Oldest and Best

Bible students are often told that Codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are older and better than other manuscripts: the implication being that they must, therefore, be more accurate. But this conclusion is wrong. We have already seen how Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are corrupt beyond measure. To be sure they are 'better' in appearance, but certainly not in their content. Remember they are written on expensive vellum; so they ought to be in good shape. They are older, but older than what" They are older than other Greek manuscripts of the New Testament. But they are not older than the earliest versions of the Bible: the Peshitta, Italic, Waldensian and the Old Latin Vulgate: versions which agree with the Majority text. These ancient versions are some 200 years older than Aleph and B.  Yes Aleph and B are older than other Greek mss, but for anyone to suggest that they are more accurate is absurd. It is like someone saying 'You will find the greatest TRUTH being preached in the oldest and most beautiful cathedrals of the world,' or, 'the most beautiful women have the best characters.'

In his masterful book Revision Revised Dean Burgon wrote, over a hundred years ago, concerning the ages of Codices Vatican (B) and Sinai (Aleph):

Quote:
"Lastly, - We suspect that these two Manuscripts are indebted for their preservation, solely to their ascertained evil character, which has occasioned that the one eventually found its way, four centuries ago, to a forgotten shelf in the Vatican library; while the other, after exercising the ingenuity of several generations of critical Correctors, eventually (viz. in A.D. 1844) got deposited in the waste-paper basket of the Convent at the foot of mount Sinai. Had B and Aleph been copies of average purity, they must long since have shared the inevitable fate of books which are freely used and highly prized; namely, they would have fallen into decadence and disappeared from sight." (Ref: P1)

In short these two codices are old simply because:

  • First:     They were written on extremely expensive and durable antelope skins.
  • Second: They were so full of errors, alterations, additions and deletions, that they were never used by true believers and seldom even by their own custodians. Thus they had little chance of wearing away.

Can any true believer imagine JEHOVAH, the Holy One of Israel, hiding Codex Vaticanus away for over 1000 years in the Vatican Library till 1481" or prompting the deeply religious monks of St Catherine's Monastery to dump Sinaiticus into a waste basket" The very idea is ridiculous.

A vital fact to remember is that though codices Aleph and B (produced in the 4th century) are older than other Greek manuscript copies of the Scriptures, they are not older than the Peshitta, Italic, the Old Latin Vulgate and the Waldensian versions which were produced 200 years earlier in the 2nd century. All these versions, copies of which are still in existence, agree with Textus Receptus, the underlying text of the King James Bible. I repeat: these ancient versions are some 200 years older than Vaticanus and Sinaiticus: so the 'oldest is best' argument should not be used. All Bibles fall, basically, into one of two categories.

  • Those based on the Majority Text. (Textus Receptus)
  • Those based on the Minority Text. (Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Vaticanus etc.)

Which Bible you select for study each day is going to have an enormous effect on your spiritual growth and well being. Bear this vital fact in mind.

The Invention of Printing

The invention of the printing press in the 15th century was a giant step forward in the circulation of the Bible. The printing press reduced the time taken to produce a Bible from about nine or ten months to a few hours: and once proof reading had been done, every copy was as good as the master. Printing also greatly reduced the price of a Bible.

"In the reign of Edward 1 of England, about 1272, the price of a complete (hand-written) Bible was from "30 to "37, and occupied a careful scribe in his scriptorium about ten months, while the days wage of a working man only averaged 1.5 pennies. When it is borne in mind that it only cost "25 to build two arches of London Bridge in 1240, while the price of a complete Latin Bible was considerably more, it will readily be allowed that only the rich and scholarly had access to the Word of God." "While Martin Luther called the art of printing 'the last and best gift of providence' the Catholic Rowland Phillips, in a sermon preached at St.Paul's Cross, London in the year 1535, frightfully remarked:
'We must root out printing
or printing will root us out.' "

(Ref:E3)

If printing, rightly used, could do so much to spread Truth, who can imagine the potential for the spread of Truth on the Internet"

The King James Version
Now that we have learned something about the majority and minority texts, let us turn our attention to the history of the King James Version (KJV) which is based on Textus Receptus. The King James Version was translated directly from the original languages: though it owes its style and biblical language to versions which went before. I now invite you to imitate the believers of Berea mentioned in the book of Acts.

Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Archaic Language
Many maintain that the KJV uses archaic language. Is this objection justified" Pause awhile and consider this well known fact: every department of human learning uses language peculiar to that particular discipline: language which novices could easily refer to as being archaic. Biology, botany, geology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, music, medicine, law etc., all use strange sounding words, phrases and expressions which a novice will find difficult to understand. The study of the Word of God is similar in this respect. It also uses words and expressions which a new believer will find hard to comprehend. Words like sin, repentance, baptism, atonement, sanctification, justification, resurrection etc. These words often baffle a new believer: but he/she must learn them in order to progress spiritually; because they are explicit Biblical terms which uniquely express vital spiritual concepts and processes. They are not archaic words and we dare not get rid of them or simplify them to such a degree that the Word of God becomes a paraphrase, a commentary. Can you imagine a novice biology, science or law student objecting to the strange sounding words or old-fashioned expressions in his text books"

In his book The King James Version Defended Edward F Hills says this concerning the language of the KJV:

Quote:
"Not only modernists but also many conservatives are now saying that the King James Version ought to be abandoned because it is not contemporary. The Apostles, they insist, used contemporary language in their preaching and writing, and we too must have a Bible in the language of today. But more and more it is being recognized that the language of the New Testament was biblical rather than contemporary. It was the Greek of the Septuagint, which in its turn was modelled after the Old Testament Hebrew. Any biblical translator, therefore, who is truly trying to follow in the footsteps of the Apostles and to produce a version which God will bless, must take care to use language which is above the level of daily speech, language which is not only intelligible but also biblical and venerable. Hence in language as well as in text the King James Version is still by far superior to any other English translation of the Bible." (Ref:G1)

Thee and Thou

We also hear a lot about the words 'ye,' 'thee' and 'thou' in the King James Version: and that these should all be replaced by the word 'you'. Everyone knows that the word 'you' is a uni-plural word like 'sheep' or 'fish.' It may refer to one or many depending on the context. Believe it or not the word 'you' is used over 950 times in the KJV New Testament alone - but not exclusively. Why not" The answer is because of the vital difference between 'you' (plural) and 'thee' (singular) and there are times when it is necessary to make the difference. The word 'thee' refers to a single person, church, town or nation: whereas the word 'you' is the second person plural: it refers to many persons. To understand what I mean we will need to look at a few examples.

Just before the Saviour's crucifixion he warned his disciples - particularly Peter - of Satan's intended plan to test them all. These are the Master's words:

 Luke 22:31-32
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

In this passage the Saviour used the word 'you' to mean all the disciples. But when he used the words 'thee' and 'thou' he meant Simon Peter alone. By replacing the 'thee' and 'thou' in this passage with 'you,' the Saviour's explicit warning to Simon Peter is considerably weakened. As for his warning to all the other disciples, that Satan wanted to sift them all, that warning is completely lost. Here are two more examples where the plural word 'you' and the singular words 'thee' or 'thou' are used.

  • In this example Festus speaks to king Agrippa and Bernice concerning the Apostle Paul. Here the word 'you' refers to Agrippa and Bernice: whereas the word 'thee' specifically addresses king Agrippa. Acts 25:26: Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
  • In the following example two towns are initially addressed individually, therefore the word 'thee' is used. But when referred to together the word 'you' is used.
  • Luke10:13: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

Other examples where 'you' is plural and 'thou' or 'thee' is singular are found in Deut. 4:3; 1 Kings 9:5-6; Matthew 5:39-44; 6:4-7; 11:23-24; 18:9-10; 23:37-38; Mark 14:37-38; Luke 6:30-31; 9:41; 16:25-26; John 1:50-51; James 2:16. These texts, and there are hundreds more, prove that the word 'you' was well known by the translators of the King James Version. If you consult a concordance you will discover that it was used over 1800 times in that version; but not exclusively as in modern translations. In short, when the Saviour addresses a particular individual, church or town he uses the words 'thee' or 'thou' simply because these words are more explicit and personal than the uni-plural word 'you.' The Bible, remember, is the Word of God: explicit in every sentence - yea in every word!

Alleged KJV Errors ... Easter/Passover

Many claim that the King James Version has serious 'errors' in it. The most quoted 'error' concerns the use of the word Easter in Acts 12:1-4. The original word, these believers maintain, should have been translated as Passover - not Easter! Let us now examine the passage concerned and see if that argument holds water.

Acts 12:1-4
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

To properly understand the sequence of events described above I will briefly explain some facts about the sacred calendar.

  • The first Passover occurred in ancient Egypt when Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews spared the lives of Israel's eldest sons and slaughtered the firstborn of Egypt. That event took place on the evening (night) of the 14th Abib (Nisan), the first month in the sacred calendar. The Passover, which is an event rather than a day, is now commemorated each year on the evening of the same date. The story is well known and is recorded in Exodus chapters 11 and 12.
  • After the Passover came the seven days of Unleavened Bread. The week of unleavened bread begins on the evening of the 14th Abib and finishes on the evening of the 21st Abib. This whole week is sometimes referred to as the Passover week: but, strictly speaking, its proper name is Week of Unleavened Bread. When the Passover and the days of unleavened bread are mentioned in the same passage, as in Acts 12:1-4, we can be certain that the Passover refers to the event which occurs on the evening of the 14th Abib and the days of unleavened bread refer to the week that follows. (i.e. 15-21st Abib or Nisan)

The events recorded in Acts 12:3-4 occurred during the days of unleavened bread. In other words, the Passover in that particular year had passed, it was history, it had gone. Why, then, would Herod wait for an event which had already passed" Surely Herod knew that the Passover had passed and that the days of unleavened bread were in progress.

What, then, was Herod really waiting for before releasing Peter" The answer is: Herod was waiting for Easter to come and go - just as the King James Version says. We can be confident that the translators of the KJV knew full well why in this passage they rendered the word 'Pesah' as 'Easter' and not 'Passover' as at other times. Their combined knowledge of Hebrew and Greek and the vast amount of manuscript evidence before them (thousands of copies, versions, and church-father citations etc.) were all used to arrive at every word in the King James Version. Are we, whose knowledge of these languages is microscopic by comparison, to challenge their judgment" The fact is that Herod, during the days of unleavened bread, was not waiting for the Passover - which had come and gone; he was waiting for Easter just as the KJV says.

The events in our story tell us that:

  • The Passover in that particular year had passed.
  • The Days of Unleavened Bread (15th - 21st Abib) were in progress.
  • And Easter was approaching; after which Herod planned to bring out Peter.

The question now arises: Was the pagan festival of Easter known at that time" And were the Romans keeping Easter" The answer is - yes. The pagan festival of Easter, with its hot cross buns and Easter Sunday sunrise services was well known in ancient Babylon and Rome centuries before the events recorded in Acts 12. Let me quote a short passage about EASTER from Alexander Hislop's book The Two Babylons. (ISBN 0 7136 0470 0)

Quote:
"Then look at Easter. What means the term Easter itself" It is not a Christian name. It bears its Chaldean origin on its forehead. Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the QUEEN OF HEAVEN, whose name, as pronounced by the people of Nineveh, was evidently identical with that now in common use in this country. That name, as found by Layard on the Assyrian monuments, is Ishtar. The worship of Bel and Astarte was very early introduced into Britain, along with the Druids, "the priests of the groves" (page 103)

No scholar doubts the fact that Easter is a pagan festival which came down from ancient times, long before the Christian era. The next question is: Did some Israelites keep Easter and worship the QUEEN OF HEAVEN" Did they bake hot cross buns for Ishtar - Easter" The answer, surprisingly, is again - yes! Ancient Israel worshipped the Queen of Heaven - ISHTAR and they paid her homage each year with special cakes (buns) and drink offerings. I quote Scripture:

Jeremiah 7:18
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

Jeremiah 44: 18

But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. 19: And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men"
20: Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, 21: The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind"
22: So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
23: Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
24: Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:
25: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

Oh yes, many ancient Israelites kept Easter. Modern Israelis still do. In summary we can say that when Herod, after the Passover and during the days of unleavened bread, shut up Peter intending to bring him out after Easter, Herod meant exactly what the King James Version is saying. He meant Easter not Passover which had already come and gone. This means that every translation which uses the word Passover in Acts 12:3-4 is, strictly speaking, incorrect. Easter is the correct word, and the King James Version uses it.

The Protestant Reformers

When the early Protestant Reformers of Europe (German, Dutch, French and English etc.) began to translate the Old and New Testaments into their native languages, they first had to decide which Hebrew and Greek Text they were going to use.

Hebrew

For the Old Testament, the King James translators used the traditional Ben Chayyim Masoretic Text. This text was produced under the strict Masoretic rules mentioned earlier. Besides it was - and still is - the only trustworthy Hebrew Text available. Do not the Scripture teach in:

Romans 3:1
What advantage then hath the Jew" or what profit is there of circumcision" 2: Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

Greek

For the New Testament, the Protestant translators of the King James Bible had a choice between two vastly different Greek texts:
  1. The Received (Majority) Text favoured by the early churches of Christendom (The Greek, Waldensian, Albegensian, Gauls and Celtic churches).
  2. Or the Minority Text favoured by the Roman Catholic Church.

Wisely they settled for the Majority Text, from which came the Received text - Textus Receptus. No doubt the Spirit of God was guiding their minds and providentially preserving His Word. It is a grave error to think that the early Protestant Reformers of the 16th and 17th centuries were unaware of the Minority Texts produced in the 4th century. They were well aware of them. They had before them copies of the Majority, Minority and Neutral texts. In addition they had many ancient versions of the Scriptures: the Peshitta, Old Latin Vulgate, Italic, Waldensian, Albegensian, Gaul and Celtic Bibles. They also had before them thousands of scriptural citations of the early Church Fathers, which date back to the 2nd and 3rd century. They were also well aware of the fact that the Roman Church used a Eusebio-Origen type of Bible based on the Minority Text.

What did these great men of God do" The answer is: in making their translations they set aside the Minority Text and chose to produce versions of the Bible which were all based on the Received Text, Textus Receptus; the text used by the early Christian Church. The following quotation will help fix this fact in the reader's mind.

Quote:
"Unquestionably, the leaders of the Reformation -German, French, and English - were convinced that the Received Text was the genuine New Testament, not only by its own irresistible history and internal evidence, but also because it matched with the Received Text which in Waldensian form came down from the days of the apostles." (Ref:F6)

The King James Version Translators
When the LORD God of Israel chose the prophets and apostles of old to pen the Scriptures, He made His selection with the utmost care. Faith, holiness, a love for truth and inherent ability were the deciding qualities He looked for. In other words the Most High looks within when selecting His servants. That is how He always judges men.

1Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

The Protestant translators of the King James Version were providentially chosen by God in exactly the same way: firstly for their faith, holiness and love of truth, and secondly for their linguistic abilities. In other words, they were TRUE BELIEVERS. At their centre some 47 pious scholars were involved. In addition many hundreds of Protestant ministers and believing linguists throughout the UK assisted in the great work. I cannot over stress the importance of that fact: that FAITH IN GOD was the first and over-riding reason why the Almighty chose the KJV translators for their sacred task. It is totally inconceivable that the Almighty, who initially inspired "faithful, holy men of God" to write the Scriptures in the first place, would then - centuries later - hand over the translating of those selfsame Scriptures to unbelievers and sceptics. So I repeat: the translators of the King James Version were MEN OF FAITH, who believed that the text they were translating was, in fact, the WORD OF GOD!

"Thus started the greatest writing project the world has ever known, and the greatest achievement of the reign of James I - the making of the English Bible which has ever since borne his name." (Ref: L2)

W Scott writes as follows:

Quote:
"King James named 54 pious and scholarly persons - and who were empowered to communicate with 'all our principal learned men within this our kingdom,' so that the scholarship of the country was consecrated to the noblest work which could engage the heart, the mind, and the pen of men - the production of our admirable English Bible. Seven of the number, through death and other causes, were unable to serve, so that the list was reduced to 47.
It may be interesting to know how and to whom the work was distributed. There were six committees chosen, two of which sat at Westminster, two at Cambridge, two at Oxford. The whole were presided over by Bishop Andrews, who, besides possessing an intimate knowledge of Hebrew, Greek, Chaldee, and Syriac, was familiar with 16 other languages.
As each set or committee of translators finished the particular part assigned to them, it was then subjected to the criticism of the other five sets in order; so that each part of the Bible came before the whole body of the translators. When the 47 finished their work it was then carefully reviewed by the final committee. Dr Miles Smith, Bishop of Gloucester, wrote the preface."
(Ref:A8)

Always bear in mind the spiritual qualifications of these great men of God. They were

  • Pious Christians who believed that the text they were handling was the very Word of God!
  • They had absolutely no doubt in their minds that the Genesis account of creation was true.
  • They never for a moment doubted the miracles of Jesus or that he was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified for the sins of mankind and that he rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.
  • They were pious Protestants who saw through the errors of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • They were scholars of the highest order. Few - if any - of today's scholars come anywhere near them in their understanding of the original languages; let alone their faith, piety and commitment to truth above tradition.

Here are a few quotes about some of these great men of God from Rev.Gipp's book entitled An Understandable History of the Bible..

  • Lancelot Andrews: "As a preacher, Bishop Andrews was right famous in his day. He was called the 'star of preachers' Dr Andrews was also known as a great man of prayer"But we are chiefly concerned to know what were his qualifications as a translator of the Bible. He ever bore the character of a 'right godly man,' and a 'prodigious student.' One competent judge speaks of him as 'that great gulf of learning'! It was also said, that 'the world wanted learning to know how learned this man was.'
A brave, old chronicler remarks, that such was his skill in all languages, especially the Oriental, that had he been present at the confusion of tongues at Babel, he might have served as the Interpreter-General! In his funeral sermon by Dr. Buckridge, Bishop of Rochester, it is said that Dr. Andrews was conversant with fifteen languages."
    (page 186)
  • John Overall: " He was chosen for his expertise in the writings of the early church fathers. "Dr. Overall was vital to the translation because of his knowledge of quotations of the early church fathers." (page 186-187)
  • Robert Tighe: "an excellent textuary and profound linguist." (page 189)
  • William Bedwell : "an eminent Oriental scholar. His epitaph mentions that he was 'for the Eastern tongues, as learned a man as most lived in these modern times.'" (page 189)
  • Edward Lively: "One of the best linguists in the world"Much dependence was placed on his surpassing skill in Oriental languages."(page 190)
  • Lawrence Chaderton: "He made himself familiar with the Latin, Greek and Hebrew tongues and was thoroughly skilled in them"Dr Chaderton was a powerful preacher who lived to the age of one hundred and three. A preaching engagement in his later years was described as follows: 'Having addressed his audience for full two hours by the glass, he paused and said, 'I will no longer trespass on your patience.' And now comes the marvel; for the whole congregation cried out with one consent 'For God's sake, go on!' " (page 191)
  • Francis Dillingham : "was so studied in the original languages that he participated in public debates in Greek." (page 191)
  • Thomas Harrison : Vice-Master of Trinity College in Cambridge. "On account of his exquisite skill in the Hebrew and Greek idioms, he was one of the chief examiners in the University of those who sought to be professors of these languages." (page 192)
  • John Harding : "At the time of his appointment to aid in the translation of the Bible, he had been Royal Professor of Hebrew in the University for thirteen years." (page 192)
  • John Reynolds : "Determined to explore the whole field and make himself master of the subject, he devoted himself to the study of the Scriptures in the original languages, and read all the Greek and Latin fathers, and all the ancient records of the Church." (page 193)
  • Dr. Henry Saville : "was known for his Greek and mathematical learning. He was so well known for his education, skilled in languages and knowledge of the Word, that he became Greek and mathematical tutor to Queen Elizabeth during the reign of her father, Henry VIII." (page 195)
  • Dr. Miles Smith : "the man responsible for the preface of the King James Bible. The preface is no longer printed in present copies of the Book. He had a knowledge of Greek and Latin fathers, as well as being an expert in Chaldee, Syriac, and Arabic. 'Hebrew he had at his finger's end.' And so was the Ethiopic tongue." (page 195)

"It should be noted that these men were qualified in the readings of the church fathers which prevented them from being 'locked' to the manuscripts, causing earlier readings to be overlooked. This is vastly better than the methods used by modern translators. It should also be recognized that these men did not live in 'ivory towers.' They were men who were just as renowned for their preaching ability as they were for their esteemed education. It is a lesson in humility to see such men of great spiritual stature call themselves 'poor instruments to make God's Holy Truth to be yet more and more known.' " (Ref:B10)

William Grady backs up this evidence:

Quote:
"The men on the translation committee of the King James Bible were, without dispute, the most learned men of their day and vastly qualified for the job which they undertook. They were overall both academically qualified by their cumulative knowledge and spiritually qualified by their exemplary lives" William John Bois was only five years old, when his father taught him to read Hebrew. By the time he was six, he could not only write the same, but in a fair and elegant character. At age fifteen, he was already a student at St John's College, Cambridge, where he was renowned for corresponding with his superiors in Greek." (Ref:E7)

Why the King James Version Should Be Retained
This is so important an issue that I will again quote from Edward F Hills' book The King James Version Defended pages 218-219

"But, someone may reply, even if the King James Version needs only a few corrections, why take the trouble to make them" Why keep on with the old King James and its 17th century language, its thee and thou and all the rest" Granted the Textus Receptus is the best text but why not make a new translation of it in the language of today" In answer to these objections there are several facts which must be pointed out.

In the FIRST place , the English of the King James Version is not the English of the early 17th century. To be exact, it is not the type of English that was ever spoken anywhere. It is biblical English, which was not used on ordinary occasions even by the translators who produced the King James Version. As H Wheeler Robinson (1940) pointed out, one need only compare the preface written by the translators with the text of the their translation to feel the difference in style. And the observations of W A Irwin (1952) are to the same support. The King James Version, he reminds us, owes its merit, not to 17th century English - which was very different - but to its faithful translation of the original. Its style is that of the Hebrew and of the New Testament Greek. Even in their use of thee and thou the translators were not following 17th century English usage but biblical usage, for at the time these translators were doing their work these singular forms had already been replaced by the plural you in polite conversation.

In the SECOND place , those who talk about translating the Bible into the language of today never define what they mean by their expression. What is the language of today" The language of 1881 is not the language of today, nor the language of 1901, nor even the language of 1921. In none of these languages, we are told, can we communicate with today's youth. There are even some who feel that the best way to translate the Bible into the language of today is to convert it into folk songs. Accordingly, in some contemporary youth conferences and even worship services there is little or no Bible reading but only crude kinds of vocal music accompanied by vigorous piano and strumming guitars. But in contrast to these absurdities the language of the King James Version is enduring diction which will remain as long as the English language remains, in other words, throughout the foreseeable future.

In the THIRD place, the current attack on the King James Version and the promotion of modern-speech versions is discouraging the memorization of the Scriptures, especially by children. Why memorize or require your children to memorize something that is out of date and about to be replaced by something new and better" And why memorize a modern version when there are so many to choose from" Hence even in conservative churches children are growing up densely ignorant of the holy Bible because they are not encouraged to hide its life-giving words in their hearts.

In the FOURTH place, modern-speech Bibles are unhistorical and irreverent. The Bible is not a modern, human book. It is not as new as the morning newspaper, and no translation should suggest this. If the Bible were this new, it would not be the Bible. On the contrary, the Bible is an ancient, divine Book, which nevertheless is always new because in it God reveals Himself. Hence the language of the Bible should be venerable as well as intelligible, and the King James Version fulfils these two requirements better than any other Bible in English. Hence it is the King James Version which converts sinners soundly and makes of them diligent Bible students.

In the FIFTH place modern-speech Bibles are unscholarly. The language of the Bible has always savoured of the things of heaven rather than the things of earth. It has always been biblical rather than contemporary and colloquial. Fifty years ago this fact was denied by E J Goodspeed and others who were publishing their modern versions. On the basis of the papyrus discoveries which had recently been made in Egypt it was said that the New Testament authors wrote in the everyday Greek of their own times. This claim, however, is now acknowledged to have been an exaggeration. As R M Grant (1963) admits, the New Testament writers were saturated with the Septuagint and most of them were familiar with the Hebrew Scriptures. Hence their language was not actually that of the secular papyri of Egypt but biblical. Hence New Testament versions must be biblical and not contemporary and colloquial like Goodspeed's version.

Finally in the SIXTH place , the King James Version is the historic Bible of English-speaking Protestants. Upon it God, working providentially, has placed the stamp of His approval through the usage of many generations of Bible-believing Christians. Hence, if we believe in God's providential preservation of the Scriptures, we will retain the King James Version, for in doing so we will be following the clear leading of the Almighty." (Ref: G3)

11. MODERN VERSIONS & TRANSLATORS

Most, if not all, modern translations are based on the Revised Version (1881-5) which, as we have already learned, was influenced throughout by the Alexandrian manuscripts Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. In effect there really are only Two English language Bibles to choose from.
  • The King James Version: which is based on the Masoretic Hebrew Text and the Majority Greek Text.
  • The Revised Version: which is based on the Minority Text. This version has spawned a whole generation of inaccurate translations: which, like their unholy mother the RV, all rely heavily on the corrupt Minority Text.

I list a few of the 100+ modern Bibles which followed in the trail of the Revised Version of 1881-5:

As Samuel Gipp so succinctly puts it: "All modern translations, such as the New American Standard Version, are linked to the Revised Version of 1952, which is a revision of the American Standard Version, an American creation growing from the English Revised Version of 1881." (Ref: B11)

The Revised Version Committee

It is true that many of the Revised Version's (RV) committee members were godly scholars: but they cannot be compared with the King James Version's committee when it comes to extreme reverence for the Word of God. W Scott, writing over 100 years ago, makes this enlightening comment concerning the RV committee.

Quote:
"The movement for a revision of the authorised version of the Holy Scriptures commenced on May 6,1870, in the Convocation of Canterbury. An influential committee was at once formed, consisting mainly of distinguished scholars and divines within the pale of the Established Church, but with power to consult or add to their number eminent Biblical scholars of all denominations. Many of its members were truly eminent for godliness and of distinguished ability, but it may be gravely questioned whether the constitution of the Committee as a whole may be compared with that nominated by King James, for piety and extreme reverence for the Word of God." (Ref: A9)

Sad to say the revision committee when faced with a choice between trustworthy Textus Receptus and the corrupt Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, usually chose the corrupt Egyptian manuscripts. To be sure the Egyptian codices, written on vellum, were in far better physical condition than the papyrus or parchment MSS. But beauty, as pointed out earlier, is no indication of character. In Part Two we will examine some 80+ texts which have been seriously corrupted by these Egyptian codices. Two of the revision committee's most prominent translators were:

  • Brooke Foss Westcott
  • Fenton John Anthony Hort

Brooke Foss Westcott

Westcott was a Cambridge scholar who played a leading role in the production of the Revised Version. A very brief look at this man's spiritual standing is sufficient to tell us that the Almighty would never have used him in the preservation of His Word. Before anyone blindly accepts Westcott's decisions, he/she should consider what this man believed. The following statements by Westcott, (from the book Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott) are quoted in William Grady's book Final Authority:
  • "I never read of the account of a miracle but I seem instinctively to feel its improbability, and discover some want of evidence in the account of it." (page 216)
  • "Oh the weakness of my faith compared with that of others! So wild, so sceptical am I. I cannot yield." (page 217)
  • "O Marie , (his wife's name) as I wrote the last word, I could not help asking what am I" Can I claim to be a believer"" (page 217)
  • "It seems as if I am inclined to learn nothing; I must find out all myself, and then I am satisfied, but that simple faith and obedience which so many enjoy, I fear will never be mine." (page 217)
  • "What a wild storm of unbelief seems to have seized my whole system." (page 217)
  • "If you make a decided conviction of the absolute infallibility of the N.T. practically a sine qua non for co-operation, I fear I could not join you, even if you were willing to forget your fears about the origin of the Gospels." (page 230)

Rev. Gipp has this to say about Westcott:

Quote:
"We have in Brooke Foss Westcott a man who believed in communal living; a man who believed that the second coming of Christ was spiritual, heaven was a state of the mind, prayers for the dead were permissible in private devotions, and that Christ came to bring peace through international disarmament. He believed in purgatory and admiration for Mary, and he thought the Bible was like any other book. This is the man who walked into the Revision Committee and sat in judgement of our Bible. He thought he saw room for improvement in the Authorized Version and offered a pro-Roman Greek text with which to correct it. The ironic thing is that Bible-believing Christians, educators and preachers, who would never agree with his theology, have for years exalted his opinion of the Greek as nearly infallible. These facts alone should be reason enough to condemn Westcott and Hort, their Greek Text and the MSS which they used to arrive at such a text. But let us look at their actions concerning the molesting of the pure words of the King James Bible, in favour of Rome. Saddest of all, we have in Brooke Foss Westcott a man who neither believed in salvation by grace nor ever experienced it. There is no record in his 'Life and Letters' that he ever accepted Christ as his personal Saviour."
(Ref: B9)

We can see from these quotations that Brooke Foss Westcott wasn't really a believer in the Almighty or in His inspired Scriptures. By his own admission he was a sceptic who doubted the infallibility of the New Testament and the miracles of Jesus. He was unable to give up the scepticism and unbelief that stormed his mind. He totally rejected the infallibility of Scripture and confessed that simple faith would never be his. These are warning signals! You ignore them at your peril!

Fenton John Anthony Hort

Hort was another leading translator of the Revised Version. Most of the other committee members were unfamiliar with the methods of textual criticism and dynamic equivalence which Westcott and Hort introduced to get their way. Besides, and this is a fact we all do well to remember, Westcott and Hort were theistic evolutionists. To them the Genesis account of creation was absolutely unacceptable. Darwin's book on the Origin of the Species was more to their liking.

David Fuller writes:

"Textual criticism cannot be divorced entirely from theology. No matter how great a Greek scholar a man may be, or no matter how great an authority on the textual evidence, his conclusions must always be open to suspicion if he does not accept the Bible as the very Word of God." (Ref: F2)

A quick look at what Hort wrote will leave one in no doubt but that he disbelieved the most basic Bible doctrine, that the universe was created by God in six literal days. He was also an ardent admirer of the Roman Church. Indeed only recently (October 1996) Pope John Paul 11 declared that "

Quote:
Today new discoveries lead one to acknowledge in the theory of evolution more than a hypothesis" The convergence, of results of work done independently one from the other, constitutes a significant argument in favour of this theory." However, he added, "The soul was created directly by God."

You may be sure that very soon the entire Roman Catholic Church will be following the Pope's lead in rejecting the Biblical account of the creation.

Hort believed in the evolutionary theory over a century ago. Here are a few statements of his from the Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort taken from page 223 of the book Which Bible"

  • "Have you read Darwin" How I should like to talk with you (Westcott) about it! In spite of difficulties, I am inclined to think it unanswerable. In any case it is a treat to read such a book."
  • "But the book which has most engaged me is Darwin. Whatever may be thought of it, it is a book that one is proud to be contemporary with. I must work out and examine the argument more in detail, but at present my feeling is strong that the theory is unanswerable."
  • Dr Frederick Maurice was an avowed heretic who instilled in Hort a love for the homosexual Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle. Hort writes of Maurice as follows: "He urged me to give the greatest attention to the Plato and Aristotle, and to make them the central points of my reading."
  • ""Anglicanism, though by no means without a sound standing, seems a poor and maimed thing beside great Rome."

In his book Defending the King James Bible Rev.D.A. Waite, Th.D, Ph.D writes on page 41 as follows:

Quote:

"The Westcott and Hort Text changes the Textus Receptus in over 5,600 places"My own personal count, as at August 2, 1984, using the Scrivener's GREEK NEW TESTAMENT referred to above, was 5,604changes that Westcott and Hort made to the Textus Receptus in their own Greek New Testament text. Of these, 5604 alterations, I found 1,952 omissions (35%), 467 to be additions (8%), and 3185 to be changes (57%). In these 5604 places that were involved in these alterations, there were 4,366 more words included, making a total of 9970 Greek words that were involved. This means that in a Greek Text of 647 pages (such as Scrivener's text) this would average 15.4 words per page that were changed from the Received Text." (Ref: Q1)

Dr Henry M Morris, a founding father of the Institute for Creation Research, USA, made these telling comments concerning modern translators.

Quote:

"As far as the Hebrew text developed by Rudolph Kittel is concerned, it is worth noting that Kittel was a German rationalist higher critic, rejecting Biblical inerrancy and firmly devoted to evolutionism. The men most responsible for alterations in the New Testament text were B.F.Westcott and F.J.A.Hort, whose Greek New Testament was largely updated by Eberhard Nestle and Kurt Aland. All these men were evolutionists. Furthermore, Westcott and Hort denied Biblical inerrance and promoted spiritism and racism. Nestle and Aland, like Kittel, were German theological sceptics.

Westcott and Hort were also the most influential members of the English revision committee which produced the English Revised Version of the Bible. The corresponding American revision committee which developed the American Standard Version of 1901 was headed by another liberal evolutionist, Philip Schaff. Most new versions since that time have adopted the same presuppositions as those of the 19th century revisers"

So one of the serious problems with most modern English translations is that they rely heavily on Hebrew and Greek manuscripts of the Bible developed by liberals, rationalists and evolutionists, none of whom believed in the verbal inspiration of the Bible. Is this how God would preserve His word" Would he not more likely have used devout scholars who believed in the absolute inerrancy and authority of the Bible""

I believe therefore, after studying the, teaching and loving the Bible for over 55 years, that Christians - especially creationists - need to hang on to their old King James Bibles as long as they live. God has uniquely blessed its use in the great revivals, in the world-wide missionary movement and in the personal lives of believers, more so than He has with all the rest of the versions put together, and 'by their fruits ye shall know them' (Matthew 7:20). It is the most beautiful, most powerful and (I strongly believe), the most reliable of any that we have or ever will have, until Christ returns. " (Ref:N1)

The Revised Standard Version Committee

Few Protestants know that the Revised Standard Version (RSV) committee had Roman Catholic members on it: or that the RSV is the preferred choice of the Roman Church. I quote from the preface of this Bible:

Quote:
"The Revised Standard Version Bible committee is a continuing body, holding its meetings at regular intervals. It has become both ecumenical and international, with Protestant and Catholic active members who come from Great Britain, Canada and the United States."

Since most of the citations in the 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church, the first update of this catechism in some 400 years, are from the RSV, we can safely say that this translation has virtually become the official version of the Roman Church. In effect, the aim of the translators is ecumenical. They want all the churches, yea all religions, to unite under one supreme authority - the Pope! Several on the RSV committee regard the Scriptures as being on an equal footing as church TRADITION: for this is - and always has been - the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. The RSV committee, in other words, is vastly different from the Protestant committee which produced the King James Version. They are as different as chalk is from cheese. A brief look at some of the members of the RSV committee is startling to say the least. The following quotes are taken from Rev. Gipp's book An Understandable History of the Bible:

  • "Edgar Goodspeed was on the Revised Standard committee. Goodspeed did not believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. He looked at Jesus as a social reformer who gave his life as a martyr for a 'cause"' Goodspeed called Genesis the product of an 'Oriental story teller at his best.' " (page 197-198)
  • "Julius Brewer, another reviser, stated, 'The dates and figures found in the first five books of the Bible turn out to be altogether unreliable.' " (page 199)
  • "Henry Cadbury, another member of the Revised committee, believed that Jesus Christ was a just man who was subject to story telling. 'He was given to overstatements, in his case, not a personal idiosyncrasy, but a characteristic of the Oriental world.' " (page 199)
  • "Walter Bowie was another revisor who believed that the Old Testament was legend instead of fact. He says in reference to Abraham, 'The story of Abraham comes down from ancient times; and how much of it is fact and how much of it is legend, no one can positively tell.' " (page 199)
  • "Clarence Craig was one of the revisers who denied the bodily resurrection of Christ. 'It is to be remembered there were no eye witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus. No canonical gospel presumed to describe Jesus emerging from the tomb. The mere fact that a tomb was found empty was capable of many explanations. The very last one that would be credible to a modern man would be the explanation of a physical resurrection of the body.' " (page 200)
  • "William Sperry shows his dislike for the gospel of John in the following statement. 'Some of these sayings, it is true, come from the Fourth Gospel (John), and we do not press that gospel for too great verbal accuracy in its record of the sayings of Jesus.' " (page 201)
  • "William Irwin believed that the Jewish prophets inflated the position of God in the Bible. 'The prophets were forced by the disasters that befell to do some hard, painful thinking. They were forced by the history of their own times to revise their messages again and again in order to keep up with the progress of the age. The Assyrians and the Babylonians forced them to revise their conception of Yahweh from time to time until they finally made Him God of the universe.' " (page 201)
  • "Fleming James doubted the miracle of the Red Sea crossing. 'What really happened at the Red Sea WE CAN NO LONGER KNOW; but scholars are pretty well agreed that the narrative goes back to some striking and pretentious event which impressed Moses and the people with the belief that Yahweh had intervened to save them. The same may be said of the account of the plagues.' Concerning Elijah's action in 2 Kings 1:10, he said, 'The narrative of calling down fire from heaven upon soldiers sent to arrest him is plainly legendary.' " (page 201-202)

Some Christians flatly refuse to take account of these facts. They contemptuously brush them aside as false or irrelevant. But these are facts which can be proved and should not be ignored. They are well documented statements and they are vital. In them we can see, and that very clearly, that the leading and most influential members of the Revision committee were confessed unbelievers.

  • They did not believe in the very fundamentals of the Christian faith: the creation account in Genesis, the account of the Exodus, the miracles of the prophets, the divinity of Jesus and his resurrection etc.
  • They selected hopelessly corrupt manuscripts which cast doubt on the time-honoured King James Version.
  • They have conflicting religious beliefs: some are Protestants and others are Roman Catholics
  • They have one aim - to unite all the churches.

How should Protestants who believe in the divine inspiration and preservation of Scripture evaluate this committee's work" I answer without hesitation: With grave suspicion!
JEHOVAH the Holy One of Israel, who initially gave us the Scriptures through His prophets and apostles of old, who carefully selected the King James Version translators on the basis of their faith and linguistic ability and has since blessed His Word for some 400 years, would certainly never, never change His methods and use translators who reject basic Bible doctrines such as the creation account in Genesis. Would the Almighty, who claims never to change (Malachi 3:6), now use unbelievers to re-translate the Bible" The very idea is preposterous, if not blasphemous. I am still aghast that it took me so long to learn these facts. I am even more astounded when Christians, who are given this information, continue to hold to their modern Bibles.

Dangerous Changes

Quote:

"Even the jots and tittles of the Bible are important. God has pronounced terrible woes upon the man who adds or takes away from the volume of inspiration. The Revisers apparently felt no constraint on this point, for they made 36,000 changes in the English of the King James Version, and very nearly 6,000 in the Greek Text. Dr Ellicott, in submitting the Revised Version to the Southern Convocation in 1881, declared that they had made between eight and nine changes in every five verses, and in about every ten verses three of these were made for critical purposes. And for most of these changes the Vatican and Sinaitic Manuscripts are responsible. As Canon Cook says: 'By far the greatest number of innovations, including those which give the severest shocks to our minds, are adopted on the authority of two manuscripts, or even on one manuscript, against the distinct testimony of all other manuscripts, uncial and cursive'"The Vatican Codex "sometimes alone, generally in accord with the Sinaitic, is responsible for nine-tenths of the most striking innovations in the Revised Version"

There is a case where a little means much. 'If one wonders whether it is worth while' says Dr Robertson, speaking of the Revision, 'he must bear in mind that some of the passages in dispute are of great importance.' The Bible should more probably be compared to a living organism. Touch a part and you spoil it all. To cut a vital artery in a man might be touching a very small point, but death would come as truly as if he were blown to pieces." (Ref: F4)

Every Word!

Every word in Scripture is important: infinitely more important than a bolt or rivet in a jet airliner; or a line of code in a life-saving computer program. If His Father's words were that important to our Saviour, yea every jot and tittle, how much more should they be to us in these end times.

Matthew 4:4
But he (Jesus) answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Revelation 22:18-19

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Dynamic Equivalence

Yes, God's words are important - vitally important. A translator must, therefore, translate God's words - all of them - and not assume that he understands the Almighty's thoughts and can change or delete the divine words to reflect what he thinks God meant. The King James Version translators employed a 'word for word' translation technique. That is, they translated each Hebrew and Greek word as closely as possible into its English equivalent. Modern translators chose a vastly different method called 'dynamic equivalence.' Using this method the translator primarily endeavours to carry forward 'God's thoughts and intentions' without paying too much attention to His actual words. Using 'dynamic equivalence' in hundreds yea thousands of places, the modern translators have changed the very 'words of God' and replaced them with what, they think, God meant. In effect, dynamic equivalence is not true translation, but interpretation or paraphrase.

Writing in his highly recommended book Defending the King James Bible, Rev. D.A.Waite writes on page 105:

Quote:
"A paraphrase makes no effort to carry over or translate the words of one language into the words of another language but rather to 're-state, interpret or translate with latitude.' Since this is the object of a paraphrase there's no assurance of fidelity in carrying-over exactly what is there in one language - no more and no less - into the other language, no more and no less. Therefore, paraphrase takes great liberty in doing any of these three things or all of them: ADDING words, phrases, ideas, thoughts or meanings; SUBTRACTING words, phrases, ideas, thoughts or meanings; or CHANGING words, phrases, ideas, thoughts or meanings. That is the essence of paraphrase, that is the essence of dynamic equivalence. So it is commentary, it is interpretation, it is not translation." (Ref: Q2)

Spiritual Pollution

We have seen that Codex Vaticanus and Sinaiticus are corrupt and unholy manuscripts; that they were the work of unbelieving Egyptian scribes who amended, added to and deleted many portions of the true text and then palmed off their work as the Word of God. These manuscripts were then taken up by sceptical translators, who didn't believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, to spawn a whole generation of new translations.

With these sobering facts in mind let us now consider a Biblical principle of which comparatively few Christians know anything. It concerns SPIRITUAL POLLUTION, of how something unholy can pollute everything it touches. This little-known principle is described in the following passage:

Haggai 2:11 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying, 12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy" And the priests answered and said, No. 13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean" And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

What does this symbolic drama, involving dedicated meat, bread and wine becoming unclean if touched by an unclean person, mean" What spiritual truth is the Almighty trying to put across in this passage" The answer, I believe, is as follows:

At its basic physical level it means that if an ancient Israelite believer, whilst carrying his consecrated tithes (flesh, bread, wine or oil) to the Temple, happened to come in contact with an unclean person (a leper or corpse for example) his offering would lose its holiness and would become unacceptable to God. It's like pure meat being infected with a disease virus: or like a cup of tea being polluted by a fly: or a computer hard disk being infected by a virus-laden floppy.
In other words: unclean and unholy people or things pollute whatever they touch.

At its higher spiritual level it means that any sacred offering (prayer, charitable gift or act of worship) becomes unacceptable to God if the unholy element of unbelief motivates it.

Does this spiritual principle, that diseased things pollute everything they touch, apply to Bible translations" I'm certain it does. The Bible is the Bread of Life, the strong spiritual meat for the soul. It can also become spiritually unholy, unclean and unacceptable to God if its words are infected by the unbelief of a scribe or translator or twisted out of context by the leprous spirit of Satan. That is exactly what happened to the holy manuscripts which were carried down to Egypt.

  • First: the holy texts were corrupted by unbelieving scribes who did not recognise their divine origin . As far as they were concerned the Scriptures were merely the writings of a religious group called Christians based initially in Jerusalem and Antioch. Thus, in the process of copying, Codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus were corrupted in hundreds of places with deletions, additions and alterations, till they themselves became unholy, unclean and unacceptable to God.
  • Second: we see many unbelieving translators daring to use those corrupt codices to translate the Word of God: men who rejected the fact that every word of Scripture is God-breathed and, therefore, absolutely true. Always bear in mind that these men were professed unbelievers and evolutionists.

And so the high-level spiritual lesson of Haggai 2:11-13 has become a living reality in these last days.

FIRST:        the sacred texts were corrupted by unbelieving Egyptian copyists and
SECOND:   unbelieving modern translators used those corrupt manuscripts to complete their work. The end product is the deluge of unholy modern Bible versions on sale today. That is why we should never refer to modern translations as "Holy Bibles" because they are far from holy: and most certainly the Spirit of the Holy One of Israel was not involved in their production. They are unholy counterfeits posing as the Word of God!

We ignore those two facts at our peril. Indeed, these are the two main reasons why I have set aside all modern English translations of the Bible and have returned to the King James Version, first published in 1611.

Famine of the Word of God!
Bible prophecy never ceases to amaze me. I used to wonder how come the Bible predicted a 'famine' in the last days of 'hearing the Words of the Lord,' when there are still millions of "Bibles" being printed every year. Are not Christian shops, churches and homes bursting with Bible translations and paraphrases to suite every taste" What does this prophecy mean"

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.

I wonder no longer, because now I know that the predicted famine of the Word of God has already begun. The Real Bible is fast disappearing from Christian churches and homes. To be sure there are scores of modern translations and single Gospels available: but the Real Word of God, the King James Bible, is comparatively hard to find and is seldom read from the pulpit. Soon it will be as scarce as is bread during a literal famine.

A Solemn Warning

In the closing chapter of his book The King James Version Defended, Edward F Hills pens this solemn warning. We all do well to take heed.

Quote:

In regard to Bible versions many contemporary Christians are behaving like spoiled and rebellious children. They want a Bible version that pleases them no matter whether it pleases God or not. 'We want a Bible version in our own idiom,' they clamor. 'We want a Bible that talks to us in the same way in which we talk to our friends over the telephone. We want an informal God, no better educated than ourselves, with a limited vocabulary and a taste for modern slang.' And having thus registered their preference, they go their several ways. Some of them unite with the modernists in using the R.S.V. or N.E.B. Others deem the N.A.S.V. or the N.I.V. more evangelical. Still others opt for the T.E.V. or the Living Bible."

But God is bigger than you are dear friend, and the Bible version which you must use is not a matter for you to decide according to your whims and prejudices. It has already been decided for you by the workings of God's special providence. If you ignore this providence and choose to adopt one of the modern versions, you will be taking the first step in the logic of unbelief. For the arguments which you must use to justify your choice are the same arguments which unbelievers use to justify theirs, the same method. If you adopt one of these modern versions, you must adopt the naturalistic New Testament textual criticism upon which it rests. In other words, naturalistic textual criticism regards the special, providential preservation of the Scriptures as of no importance for the study of the New Testament text. But if we concede this, then it follows that the infallible inspiration of the Scriptures is likewise unimportant. For why is it important that God should infallibly inspire the Scriptures, if it is not important that He should preserve them by His special providence"

Where, oh where, dear brother or sister, did you ever get the idea that it is up to you to decide which Bible version you will receive as God's holy Word" As long as you harbour this false notion, you are little better than an unbeliever. As long as you cherish this erroneous opinion, you are entirely on your own. For you the Bible has no authority, only that which your rebellious reason deigns to give it. For you there is no comfort, no assurance of faith. Cast off, therefore, this carnal mind that leads to death! Put on the spiritual mind that leads to life and peace! Receive by faith the true Text of God's Holy Word, which has been preserved down through the ages by His special providence and now is found in the Masoretic Hebrew text, the Greek Textus Receptus, and the King James Version and other faithful translations." (Ref: G4)

Concerning the peculiar, yea dangerous, mind-set of the Westcott and Hort followers both past and present, Dean Burgon wrote:

Quote:
"Phantoms of the imagination [That's where they begin.] henceforth usurp the place of substantial forms. Interminable doubts, - wretched misbelief, - childish credulity, -judicial blindness, - are the inevitable sequel and penalty. The mind that has long allowed itself in a systematic trifling with Evidence, is observed to fall the easiest prey to Imposture. It has doubted what is demonstrably true: has rejected what is indubitably Divine. Henceforth, it is observed to mistake its own fantastic creations for historical facts; to believe things which rest on insufficient evidence, or on no evidence at all." (Ref: P2)

Martyrs for the Word of God

Multiplied millions of true believers in ages past have died for the Word of God. Publishing the Bible was a major crime. To possess a Bible, or even portions of one, placed a Christian in a very dangerous position. During the dark ages the situation was immeasurably worse. One has only to study the history of the Waldensian Church to see how dangerous it was for true believers to possess the Scriptures. Multitudes perished by sword, famine, beatings, burning, hangings and torture. Many were slain with Bibles tied around their necks. One of the greatest Christian classics on this subject is Fox's Book of Martyrs: a book which in ancient days was chained - alongside the Bible - to the reading desks in many British churches. Make time to study this book. It tells of martyrs who died in their tens of thousands - yea millions - all because they lived and loved the teachings of the Real Word of God. Here is a quote from page 179 of this masterpiece concerning William Tyndale, the first man to translate the Bible into English from the original languages:

Quote:
"Tyndale thought with himself no way more to conduce thereunto , than if the Scripture were turned into the vulgar speech, that the poor people might read and see the simple plain Word of God. He perceived that it was not possible to establish the lay people in any truth, except the Scriptures were so plainly laid before their eyes in their mother tongue that they might see the meaning of the text; for else, whatsoever truth should be taught them, the enemies of the truth would quench it, either with reasons of sophistry, and traditions of their own making, founded without all ground of Scripture; or else juggling with the text, expounding it in such a sense as it were impossible to gather of the text, if the right meaning thereof were seen."

In the book of Revelation we read that the Apostle John was banished to the island of Patmos for the Word of God!

Revelation 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the WORD OF GOD, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The prophecy of the Revelation goes on to tell of a great company of believers who would live and die for the WORD OF GOD! a martyrdom which is to be repeated in these last days. I will not exhaust the reader with frightening details; but this is what the prophecy says. Note carefully that these martyrs and their end-time kinsman were - and still are to be - slain for the WORD OF GOD! The main themes of the Word of God are the Son of God (Yeshua the Messiah) and the Law of God (the Torah). These martyrs, past and future, are slain because they loved the living and written Word of God and kept the commandments recorded in it.

  • Revelation 6: 9: And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain FOR THE WORD OF GOD, and for the testimony which they held: 10: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth" 11: And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed AS THEY WERE, should be fulfilled.
  • Revelation 12: 17: And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
  • Revelation 22: 14: Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The Basic Bible Study

" 'The textual critic J. Harold Greenlee has said, 'New Testament textual criticism is, therefore, the basic Bible study, a prerequisite to all other Biblical and theological work.'

Quote:
This is not an overstatement of the importance of this issue. As believers we have the responsibility in our day and age of proclaiming the Gospel, the pure Gospel, the undiluted Gospel. We also have the right and privilege of being the next in the line of protecting God's Word and proclaiming it. Each individual Christian will make a decision on this matter, of which text is correct. Unmistakably, this decision will be made, consciously or unconsciously, by every single believer. This decision is made when the believer decides which edition of the Bible he will use to read and study; and if he chooses a translation based upon corrupted manuscripts which reflect views which omit the deity of Christ, His blood atonement, His virgin birth, then the decision has been made to extend this error to the next generation. If, however, today's Christian chooses a translation of the Word of God which is translated from the Traditional Text of the New Testament, the decision has been made to continue to see God's working through His providence in providing His Word in its complete form, not only for this generation but for those to come."
(Ref:L1)

In my opinion, the quote you have just read is one of the most important in this whole publication, that

'New Testament textual criticism is, therefore, the BASIC BIBLE STUDY, a prerequisite to all other Biblical and theological work.'

If you stop to think about it, you will see how true this is: that before we even begin to study any book claiming to be 'The Holy Bible' we should check to see if that really is the case. I must confess that, like multiplied millions of other Christians, I just didn't do that. I blindly accepted every modern translation as the Word of God; some better or worse than others: but all equally holy. How wrong I was! How terribly wrong! But I thank the Almighty that He mercifully pardoned my ignorance, and then opened my eyes to the error of my ways - before it was too late! But JEHOVAH answered my prayer and allowed me to place this article on the Internet. Praise His holy name!

The TRUTH shall set you free!
